Corinne & Arlowe

Corinne and Arlowe were born in the city of Chorrol, and were childhood friends. Corinne was the precocious daughter of a tailor, always getting into places she didn't belong looking for information, fun, or trouble. Arlowe was the son of a fletcher, responsible and somewhat neurotic as well. Neighbors lamented his friendship with Corinne as his only notable flaw- and what a flaw it was. Still, the two were the youngest children in Chorrol and became close, and Arlowe felt some responsibility for keeping Corinne out of too much trouble, given that he was older than her. He even harbored something of a childhood crush.

After a misadventure following after a rumor of an ancient, powerful spell lying in wait in a nearby Ayleid ruin, Corinne was inspired to join the local Mage's Guild, and managed to talk them into letting her join. Arlowe was happy for Corinne, hoping perhaps the Mage's Guild would give her life some direction, but he didn't realize that as a result, she would leave the city to visit all the other chapters of the guild.

The two agreed to keep in touch in writing, however, and Corinne would write a letter to Arlowe in Chorrol with each stop she made in her journey to gain the approval of each chapter of the Mage's Guild. At some point, however, the letters abruptly stop coming... and Arlowe sets out on his own adventure to find her, or at least to learn of her fate.

The two only found eachother again in the Dark Brotherhood, years later, barely able to recognize one another after everything they have been through. Who knows what poor, sensitive Arlowe went through to become a murderer in the Dark Brotherhood, but once was there, he found himself looking up to Corinne herself as the Listener. After a bittersweet reunion, they practically have to befriend eachother once again, each learning how the other has been changed by their trials as they work together to rebuild the Dark Brotherood of Cyrodiil.
