A mimsy born out of the feeling of gratitude, Halla is a friendly and kind young man with good manners and a polite yet surprisingly relaxed way of speaking. He’s usually easy to get along with, but as a fae he’s often awfully curious and can get himself in trouble because of that. Added by the somewhat fickle and playful nature of his kind, it hardly gets boring when around Halla despite the false sense of calmness his exterior might suggest. He’s also very physical with his affection, and spends a lot of time in his ferret-like animal form simply because it’s easier for people to hold and pet him that way.
Halla is very fascinated by humans and naturally drawn to them, and he loves to play word games with them that usually result in him gaining magical power over them - but only in theory, as Halla is too kind to actually take advantage of others. He simply delights in seeing people’s reactions, and given his otherwise harmless nature, this is usually easily forgiven by others. However, underestimating him or taking his kindness for granted can lead to dramatic consequences, as Halla is still a powerful magical being, and does possess some of that spiteful nature often associated with the fairy folk - he might forgive, but never forget. And while he isn't known to be violent towards others, no moral obligation is going to stop him from hurting you if you do end up using or hurting him.
Although Halla can visit several universes with humans in them, he’s most often seeing in the universes of Taros and Enhyria, as he has trouble blending in among humans in Hymnia, and exhausts himself easily.
Appearance
Halla is a young man of average height, with a light skin and androgynous but distinctly more masculine body shape. Within the fairy realm he can’t be told apart from regular humans, but everywhere else he has a pair of white ears and a tail with blue tips on each of them, resembling those of a ferret or a stoat. In this form he also has white-and-blue patterns on his arms and feet, resembling white stockings and gloves but are actually simply markings on his skin, similarly to tattoos. Inside the fairy realm he has no scars on his body, but inside the human realms he’s seen with mastectomy scars under his chest. Halla also has several moles on his body: one under his right eye, two on his left collarbone and one on his left arm, near his armpit.
Halla has bright blue, gentle but simultaneously sharp looking eyes, a small, round nose and full lips, with his long fangs pulling them into a cat-like smile when his mouth is closed. His hair is platinum blond, almost white, with a short, feathered cut. His front locks are also parted slightly on his left side, occasionally covering his right eye when his hair grows. His nails are somewhat long and permanently colored white, both on his hands and feet. He’s usually seen wearing a blue-white collar around his neck, which also acts as his source of magic when he interacts outside of the fairy realm. Halla also loves to hoard everything with lace on it, and as such his wardrobe tends to be quite large, ranging from simple yet formal looking everyday wear to highly detailed, beautiful clothing reserved for more special events - or when he feels like dressing up all fancy.
As a mimsy, Halla also has an animal form very similar to a ferret, with a halo above his head. He is forced to take this form if his magic is running out or if he has exhausted himself, but he also simply enjoys spending his time in this form for fun.
Personality
Born out of the feeling of gratitude, Halla has a generally positive outlook on life: he firmly believes in the good of others, and gets particularly emotional whenever he sees strangers helping each other, or simply being kind to one another. This can make him a tad naive, even though Halla has grown up with other fae and is aware the world is full of deceit - but he’s willing to take the risk of believing in others anyway. He’s extremely kind and gentle even towards strangers, and takes delight in helping out others. That being said, Halla is more perceptive than he might give the impression of, and he doesn’t take kindly to being deceived or used: a highly magical being with a lot of magical power, actually angering him will only result in casualties. And although Halla forgives easily, he still remembers others’ wrongdoing towards him, making it difficult if not impossible to gain back his trust.
As a mimsy, Halla is very playful and can appear surprisingly childish despite his quite refined looks. He also loves to take his animal form to play in, and much like ferrets, he loves to run and climb around, and also enjoys digging. He’s also great at word games and takes delight in messing with people by fooling them into giving him their name, or in some other way letting him have power over them. However, as Halla is very kind despite his mischievousness, he never intentionally uses or puts other people in harm’s way - it’s all in good fun, even if letting a fae outsmart them can scare most. Resulting from his love for verbal trickery, Halla has a large vocabulary and is quite the refined speaker, even when the situation doesn’t necessarily call for it.
Much like all mimsies, Halla is also curious to a fault, and might not understand it when people want to keep things to themselves or don’t want to explain him things. He’s also prone to following his whims when it comes to things that pique his interest, and it’s not unusual for him to start following strangers, get himself stuck in strange places or even end up hurting himself on a quest for discoveries and knowledge. He doesn’t mean anything bad with this, but the undeniable fact is he usually ends up causing a lot of hassle and trouble for others.
Although Halla means nothing but well, he can also be awfully fickle, and his attention span isn’t the greatest. And while this makes it often difficult to spend longer periods of time with him or make him focus on what is important, this also makes him very adjustable and comfortable with even big changes - after all, it doesn’t take him long to get used to it. He also easily forgives the fickleness in other people, perhaps thinking of it as a norm due to being a fae himself.
History
Born and raised in the faerie realm, Halla was formed out of the emotion of gratitude. As such, he grew up grateful of just about everything he could experience, and likewise seeked out for individuals who would resonate with a similar feeling. He spent his early years thinking he was a girl, but started questioning this as he got older, and was easily able to magically shape his own form so that he was comfortable in his own body while living within his home realm. As such, he didn’t need to think about his sex or gender much beyond knowing he's a man, and other fae folk seemed to treats this as nothing out of ordinary, accepting his identity without any issue. Halla would also read and study magic during his time there, and discovered his affinity with ice based magic - appropriate given winter was Halla’s favourite season.
When he was finally old enough to venture outside of the faerie realm, Halla found himself a choker corresponding with his native emotion, and made it his phylactery to store his magic and ultimately life essence into. However, the realm of humans he initially visited wasn’t the easiest one to navigate around: all the emotions, sounds and noises overwhelmed him greatly, and he soon came to realize the magic shaping his body to his own liking didn’t work outside of his home forest. Desperate to ease his bodily dysphoria but also to remain among humans, Halla went to seek out treatments to medically transition, and was eventually able to receive the ones he needed.
A curious and independent creature, Halla likes to travel around different universes and experience what they have to offer, but he currently has a few he favours above others, Taros and Enhyria being the biggest: in Taros he’s able to blend in with the people by claiming he’s a chimera, and in Enhyria his ears and tail are nothing unheard of, even if not very common in all areas. As he wanders around he usually keeps his belongings at his home realm, and then takes them with him to other places as if he was going on a vacation.
Skills & Abilites
- As a fae, Halla can’t touch iron without burning his skin. As such, he always wears gloves when handling metals in general. However, with iron he still feels discomfort even though gloves. Man-made metals also make him uncomfortable and he’s hesitant to touch them.
- Halla was born out of the feeling of gratitude. Outside the fairy realm he could sap people out of their feelings of gratitude (not permanently) to get more magical energy, but he feels so bad about it he doesn’t want to do it.
- When outside of the fairy realm, his choker acts as his magical storage and is sort of a lifeline for him that lets him survive. As such, he doesn’t really let others touch it. The choker is a present a certain singer received from her teacher, and she kept wearing it throughout her life as her token of gratitude. When she was no longer using it, Halla took it as his Phylactery due to the emotions of gratitude associated with it.
- His true name is Kuura, but since it’s possible to control a fae by using their true name, Halla hasn’t really told anyone of this. Chances are he’d be doing it only if he was romantically involved with someone and had absolute trust in them.
- Good at word plays & just about anything that has to do with words and using them in a cunning fashion - he’s a fae, after all. However, while Halla delights in scaring people by fooling them into giving him their names, he never actually does anything malicious.
- Although Halla rarely uses his magic, he’s surprisingly adept in using ice-based magic both to fight and defend himself. He’s not the strongest or most powerful by any means, but his gentle appearance might make his offense-based magic seem very surprising. As a magical being he can use his own core for spells, but he also knows a fair deal of word magic as well that doesn't eat up his own magical energy - which comes in handy when outside of his home realm.
Trivia
- * Halla is a trans man and pretty open about it. He’s very non-conforming though due the fact he’s a fae and their concept of gender as a whole can be very loose, and not directly comparable to how humans view it.
- Hoards lacy things, most often in the form of clothes and other similar accessories.
- Halla and Kuura both mean "frost" in Finnish. Lumiaho in turn roughly translates to "snowglade", and is a surname Halla simply chose for himself to appear more human.
- He loves hugs and cuddles and is very physical with just about everyone, and might not always respect other people’s personal space. However, simply telling him he’s making you uncomfortable will usually solve the issue.
- He isn’t really musical himself, but he can easily be charmed by skillful instrument playing. He's especially fond of wind instruments.
- Very bookish and enjoys reading, although it’s often hard to get him to focus on reading - and when he eventually does, it’s then difficult to make him stop.
