  • Is mute due to the effects of the hollow body trait and as a result has some difficulty communicating with others. This trait was gained when consuming a potion as a young adult, while apprenticing to become an opera singer. They had talent and potential that lead a fellow apprentice to offer the potion in a play of friendship claiming it would help their voice after a particularly challenging day where Aisling's throat was dry and scratchy. Trusting them, they drank the potion and first they noticed the loss of their voice, then the fuller transformation taken.
  • Adjusting to this change took time and completely derailed their plans to take to the stage. Their difficulty communicating partially a result of the age they became mute, but also because the first few years after the incident they held out hope to find a reversal by contacting a variety of Mynrosians versed in magic and alchemy. No answer came and eventually they began to learn some basic signs which help them communicate common meanings with those who know the signs, but otherwise they still largely communicate by quill and ink.
  • Going from a mhoat expecting to live in the limelight, who always knew exactly what to say that would charm and draw others in to someone who found themself trapped in an imposed silence outside of their control was just as devastating as having their music and future taken away. They are often frustrated with the limitations of communicating in the way they do, forced to hope for patience and time from those who do not know or understand their struggles.
  • Since those early years they have shifted their focus into gaining the skills to better navigate a world unaccustomed to this who cannot speak with ease. This has been with the encouragement of the final magically inclined Mynrosian she met with, Retro who while not versed in alchemy, is well known for making specific magic inventions for those who have need of an object that completes a specific objective. They made several recommendations and a promise to research what he could do to ease Aisling's way, swayed by the story of their transformation. During that time he recommended Aisling visit a temple of Livinia to meet with an acolyte that could help them process the feelings they harbor towards their new self and meet one of their archivists who he believes may know something about the value of a voice.
  • This recommendation led them to the temple on their home island where they met Andora, an acolyte who usually deals in matters of the heart, but was drawn to Aisling and their story. She knows well the struggles one can have when one cannot put words out into the world and connect with others, not from her own experiences but instead someone important in her life. Especially knowing that Aisling values their voice and that struggles and frustrations can turn either outward to others or internally towards oneself. She suspected that Aisling did have a matter of the heart hidden at the core of their troubles, that she also happened to have a direct line with with the apprentice archivist for her temple, all the better.
  • A few sessions in to talking with Andora, the mhoat introduced Aisling to Chirio, who seemed dreadfully nervous to be interacting with anyone in his official capacity in the temple. It was these nerves that set Aisling at ease and ultimately charmed her enough that she was able to find some of her former self and charm Chirio in turn, even if it was a stilted exchange of words over paper and pen on her part. She has yet to see where Chirio's knowledge may lead, but she trusts enough in Andora's intentions to wait and see what may come of it.
  • The way they dressed has also been altered by their physical transformation, where before they were quite fashionable and loved any clothing that fit their tastes, they have since taken to dressing to cover themselves to avoid frightening other Mynrosians. While mhoats can have a variety of unique appearances, one that is just a floating mask can cause quite a shock and weaken many first impressions. So, wearing clothes that disguise one aspect of their transformation has made adjusting just a bit asier.
