Briar is born to Wolf and Ivy in Castiel's Sanctuary alongside her brother, Mountain. They share a den with their parents and older sister, Snowflake.
Mountain and Briar are playing together. He tosses a pinecone to her, and she misses it and it scrapes open her nose. She wails in distress until Sunny tends to the cut, and Ivy and Mountain comfort her. (Winds of Darkness, chapter 30)
