About

Astraia is the cheerful, silly and kind-hearted farmer of the Stardew Valley, or at least... that's what she wants to be. As she's gotten older and experienced her fair share of trauma, she's become quite the lonesome escapist. Quick to run away and at their wit's end following a massive breakdown, they find a letter from their abuelo including the deed to his old farm, Estrella Polar, and seize the opportunity, throwing away their old painful life for a chance to start over and a last chance to find a reason to persevere. With the help of her new livelihood, the residents of Pelican Town and Abuelo's legacy, she's slowly learning how to come to terms with her past, let people into her life again, heal and simply live life as it comes.

Past

Astraia was a bright, bubbly and friendly child. They used to visit the Valley as a kid when they would spend summers and winter breaks with their grandparents. She was very close to her grandparents and they both doted on her a lot. As her parents' relationship began to struggle, her grandparents entered a custody battle for Astraia and her younger siblings that they inevitably lost. Some time after, her parents stopped sending her and her siblings over to the farm. The last time Astraia stepped foot in Pelican Town was when they were 11 for their abuela's funeral, their abuelo gave them a letter telling them not to open it until the time was right and so they hid it. He died a few years after but Astraia, 13 at the time, did not attend the funeral.

Her grandparents served as her only consistent love and support system, with them out of her life she began to struggle much more. Being the oldest of her siblings she got the most of her parents' struggles and trauma dumped onto her. When their parents finally divorced they were constantly moving around and caught in between their fights, often forced to "choose the better parent". They had to step up and care for their younger siblings and serve as emotional support for their emotionally abusive and negectful parents, despite being a child themself. By the time their grandfather passed Astraia had become very reserved and shut in on themself. She tried her hardest not to burden others and did not let others get too close, she began to blame herself for the problems of her parents.

In highschool she maintained her good grades but began to stop going to school as often, or would skip classes hiding away in the locker room or bathroom. She had friends but much like with her parents, she tried her best to keep her burdens to herself and never let herself get too close to anyone, being very quick to cut anyone off. She had begun self-harming as a means to calm her down from her extreme mood peaks, or when she was angry with someone she felt she wasn't allowed to be angry with. Was forced a few times into therapy/seeing a psychiatrist by their parents but it never lasted enough to do anything meaningful for them, especially since they were stuck in an enviorment that didn't allow for any healing nor growth. She began questioning her sexuality but after coming out as bi to a few of her 'friends' and being invalidated immediately and breaking up with her boyfriend she decided to keep it to herself from that point forward. She picked up a part time job at a Jojamart.

In college their internal struggle seemed to grow even further, as they struggled to keep up with their grades and trying to be more assertive of their identity and the validity of their own issues. After being convinced by her then only friend Nemuru to stand up for herself, she decided to come out to her family as bisexual and nonbinary, again to be invalidated and there on enduring even more queerphobic comments from them any time she'd come home. She soon dropped out college and began working at Jojamart fulltime. Sometime after, during an arguement, she admitted to her festering mental illness and the fact that she was suicidal, only to be met with anger and downright disregard. She was kicked out by her mother and to avoid moving in with her father accepted Nemuru's offer to move in with her. The two began dating shortly after but the relationship started to become unhealthy as Astraia became extremely dependant on her girlfriend and Nemuru in turn gaining a sort of Savior Complex.

Astraia realizing how it was bad for both of them, decided to break up and move out. She began to drown herself in her job as a means to stay distracted from her life. They soon gained a promotion at Joja Co., but the added pressure quickly became too much to handle and she had a major breakdown which lead to her finding the letter her from her grandfather.

Life in Stardew

Her first year in the Valley is quite lonesome as she unintentionally keeps to herself and is clinging to the habit of keeping herself occupied at all times, getting lost in her farmwork and eventually spending nights in the mines. It's not that she's distrustful of the residents but is so caught in feeling out of place and that shes's somehow a bother that she just stays away as much as she can. She hopes to one day be close with her younger siblings again and plans on reaching out to them once she's settled in a bit more.

Relationships

Robin [ close friend ]

Robin was Astraia's first friend in the Valley. Having been good friends with her grandfather and even meeting her a few times when she was a child, Robin tries her best to make Astraia feel welcomed in town, especially when she can see that Astraia is struggling. With a lot of persistence, Robin was able to become one of the few people Astraia relies on in times of need or simply just for a chat. Astraia loves and respects Robin greatly.
