Hideki is a dedicated man, and always puts his best self forwards. That is, until he's in front of his work buddy, Erik. The two of them, back in their younger days, were a pair of idiots who enjoyed acting up and slacking off when they could. Hide was, and still is, head over heels for Erik. Of course Erik knows this, but both of them play it off cool and stay best buddies. Hide is a good sport, and doesn't find himself getting jealous even when Erik's girlfriend, Melissa, comes to visit him at work. He finds her hilarious and 'one of the guys' when they go out drinking and getting stupid.
Despite his strict Japanese upbringing, he never got exceptional grades at school and barely made it into the police academy to begin with. It's only been through Erik's guidance that he's even still in the force. He spends his days off playing video games and cooking, which he enjoys a lot. If he didn't manage to get into the force he probably would've ended up working at a restaurant instead. The idea of changing careers hasn't left his mind, but he knows it'll take a lot to get him to leave Erik behind.
