skipper is an energic young boy hailing from the recently-surfaced island community of wharf. he's the first child to ever have been born on the island, and has been raised by the community there in a sense, never having known his parents. he loves nature, espescially the ocean he's grown up next to. he's passionate about marine biology and his dream is to explore the mysteries lurking in the waters surrounding his island home. someday, he wants to be regarded as a local hero for this, so that his parents might recognize him and come back to wharf to meet him.

in terms of hobbies, skipper loves to fish, swim, explore, and try to make friends...though he's not very good at that last one. he's boisterous, impulsive, and a bit bossy, so he can be a bit hard to get along with at times. he's unbearably idealistic and has a hero worship problem, so older kids don't like him much, and younger kids don't like him for his overbearing nature. he has a good heart, though! he just gets caught up in his own bravado every now and then. deep down, he is very caring, a good listener, and very determined, and when he devotes his energy to someone or something, he'll go all in for that person or thing.

his short-term goal for most of his life has been to join the "adventure guild," a boarding school in wharf's vacation district dedicated to teaching children the skills necessary to enter a career of marine exploration and study. however, for dubious reasons, the guild requires students to enroll in twos, and because skipper has such a hard time getting along with his peers, he was never able to convince anyone to be his partner. this all changed, however, when he found a strange boy submerged in the bay near his home. the two of them quickly became friends, and skipper talked him into joining the guild with him.

together, the two of them set out in pursuit of a grand adventure!
