Saiyel Kensida

Backstory
  Saiyel Kensida is the most recent heir to the Kensida family. After a heinous event in Olai's history, her family was on the "victorious" end of a feud between the Kensida, whose wealth was in the military, and the Anarcas, who pioneered "safe" demonic summoning and gained a substantial fortune on it. As a child, she was very adventurous, and often had very bizarre dreams. The most disturbing thing, however, was that occasionally she'd wake up with small items from them. Nothing too out of place, either. Just a couple strange badges or at most a glove, all of which she kept in a special box she hid beneath her bed. As she grew up, these dreams inspired her to look into taking after her father and joining the town guard, where she proved herself capable enough to become a vanguard, a class of knight known for using a pair of large clawed shields to protect themselves and their allies. It is thus, that she was told of her family history. However, unlike what many are told about the Kensida family, Saiyel was told the true tale of her grandmother, grandfather and great uncle. One only pieced together between their journals, after her father found them in various spots in Olai. The truth soured her outlook quite a bit, but left her determined to help make the Kensida name worthy of its praise.
  Two years later, she met a boy named Terrandus and a girl her age named Sophietta on her night patrol, saving them from the enraged phantasm that haunted the city. Soon after, she learned that she had a big role in the grand scheme of things.

Current Story
  When Gaianyx sent Terrandus and her out on a journey, she realized her role would be one of escorting Terrandus to the end of it. Thus, she grew very protective of him as they traveled to the city of Umbros. As the path got dark, they were set upon by thieves, and forced to take shelter near a large castle. Little did they know, the castle belonged to one of the major adversaries in their journey. A lich calling himself Blitzgarr controlled a budding army of the undead, and commanded that the two be brought to him. They managed to find their way to his main chamber by themselves, but Terrandus insisted the two try to make peace. Begrudgingly, she accepted, and offered her hand to the lich.

This proved to be a mistake.

The situation was all a blur to her from that point. All she knew is... something, happened to separate her and Terrandus, and that Blitzgarr had caused a skull to bolt from across the room and rip her hand to shreds in its jaw. She wandered the seemingly endless castle for what felt like hours before she found Terrandus again... accompanied by a large, black and red clad figure exuding a red mist. With the group back together, they found Saiyel's second shield, bolted out of the castle and moved on to Umbros, discovering their new ally had been defending their cart and the beasts of burden pulling it.
