Kind • Reliable • Hardworking
Raised by his mother, he inherited her kindness and gentleness, and the will to reach out to people who need help. Although he often ends up exhausting and irritating himself a lot by helping others, he likes being relied on in the end. Really protective. Often called a "mom friend" since his abilites in cooking and other housework are pretty good. Sometimes might be too focused on himself or any other thing that he doesn't notice that people close to him are troubled with something. Kind of cannot see the big picture. He also trusts his friends without a shade of doubt, that's why when they say they're okay, he doesn't even consider it might be a lie. Looks a bit serious, but in fact is really awkward and easily embarassed. Doesn't let himself be pushed around by others. Really bad at studying, studies a lot and barely passes.
History
Despite being left alone, Ryu's mother, owner of a little patisserie, wanted to raise her son properly, so he doesn't grow up to be a coward like his father. She raised him with love and care, so that he never complained about not having a father. He had a quite normal childhood, during which he learned a lot of skills to help his mother, like cooking and all kinds of housework. He also developed a love to art, especially painting, he had a natural talent for, to the point that he has been considering pursuing it as a future career. In middle school he met his current best friend, Sanae, they got along pretty well since they were both loners. He's the only one who learned of the crime she had commited, and despite it being hard for him to accept, he knew that if he leaves her she's going only to break down more, that's why he never, absolutely never questions it. After reuniting with Sanae after she has been away for a year, he's happy to hear that they're going to attend the same school again. In july of year 20XX he decides to transfer to the [cool school name] along with her, because he was concerned for her mental health, also her grandmother promised him to introduce him to famous artists so he could become their apprentice.

Himeji Sanae
[ Best friend ]
His best friend since middle school. They managed to create a really strong bond that could be even called "family" at times. He honestly sees her as his little sister and wants to do anything to support her! He's scared of how serious her condition is so he doesn't intend to push her any far and just lets her rest by his side.
Rokujou Touya
[ Friend ]
He mostly knows him as Sanae's friend, but they do talk sometimes. They either get along perfectly or get into a fight, but even so they're more or less okay with each other. He realizes Touya is kinda jealous of his relationship with Sanae, but doesn't really care about it. He's mostly the one reaching out to him to get along. Gets pissed whenever Touya points out flaws in his cooking though.
Amemiya Rei

His homeroom teacher. He's extremely grateful for all the support he's been receiving from him about pursuing art rather than studying. As much as he absolutely sucks at his subject (math) he tries especially hard just because he likes him and feels grateful to him.
