Personality
> Very guarded and standoffish, until they get to know you. It's not easy to earn their trust, and there's a lot of walls you need to get through.
> Cool and collected. Mason is very aware of how their emotions affect their abilities, so they try their best to maintain as calm as possible.
> Snarky and sarcastic. Mason loves joking around with people they feel comfortable around. The jokes can get pretty corny once they really know you, but either way there's nothing they love more than a bit of biting sarcasm.
> Absolutely the kind of person who you can't always tell if they're friends with someone because they just poke fun at each other for hours and their tone is such that, without knowing them, it's hard to tell if its mean.
>  Pretty introverted and reserved. They used to like attention a bit more, but even in positive social situations they get drained pretty easy. There's certain people they seem like they always have time for, though.
> Introspective and thoughtful, empathetic. Due to the kind of upbringing they had, they have a lot of insight to a lot of different experiences, and they had to grow up faster than most. And despite appearances, they're extremely empathetic, and have a knack for finding words for feelings you didn't know how to describe.
> Has trouble letting things go. For as much as they can understand why a person does something, or keep themselves from losing their cool, sometimes things start to pile up because they can't express it. It makes it hard for them to let go of things, which is why it helps for them to work out and spar to get the aggressive energy out. In some cases though, even that only helps so much and they can hold a heavy grudge.

Likes
+ Video games! Especially retro-style games and Nintendo titles. In fact, when Mason was able to afford it, they went and found an old gamecube to hook up to their tv. The only foster home they ever felt good in let them have a gamecube, and so their favorite games are connected to that experience. Mario Kart, Wind Waker, Animal Crossing... Their favorite series is the Zelda games, and while they don't go too hard in on home decorations, the noticeable ones are mostly Zelda themed.
+ Fire. Not in quite a pyromaniacal way, but they find comfort in fire due to their powers.
+ Fighting. Mason always got into a lot of fights as a kid as a means of acting out. They never really shook this habit, so they have a tendency to pick fights with assholes or honestly, just for fun. Between the things they went through in experimentation, and escaping/running from the facilities and such, they've found themselves with a lot more training and experience fighting than they had back then, and they can enjoy a good sparring sesh to clear the mind.
+ Just existing around the people they care about. Mason's not a person of many words, and sometimes the best thing for them is to just exist in the same space as someone close to them, or to do so comfortably to get close to a new person.

Dislikes
- Customer Service. They work at a diner and very few things remind you of how awful the general public can be more than working food service.
- Sudden loud noises. They've gotten really good at withholding their reaction, but it still makes them flinch, and makes them kind of fight-or-flight.
- Crowded or obligatory social situations. They're not bad at social interaction, per se. They just don't like the expectation of it, and hates being put on the spot. They also hate crowds because it makes them feel trapped and somewhat paranoid, on top of the already tedious social expectations. In the base unreals universe, crowds also come with possible danger or suspiciousness due to their physical mutations.
- Small confined spaces. Mason's become a wee bit claustrophobic.
- Hospitals and doctors. Being experimented on doesn't give you a lot of trust for that sort of thing.
- Alcohol. Mason is a recovering alcoholic, so while it probably wouldn't be technically correct to say that they dislike alcohol, they do try to avoid it. They've stayed clean for a pretty long time, and their powers make it harder for them to get drunk the few times they have relapsed in recent years.

Hobbies
> Working out and sparring. It's a good coping mechanism for both anger and just general clearing their head. Despite their somewhat solitary lifestyle, they don't like things to be quiet or still for very long, so it helps keep things moving. Doesn't hurt to keep in shape when it comes to mercenary work and vigilantism either.
> Playing video games. As mentioned before, Mason loves retro games and Nintendo games. They're not the best at it, but they enjoy replaying all their favorites every so often as well as the new additions to classic series. If it lines up with them having money, they have a couple streamers they like to watch and donate to. Because most excess of money comes from not-so-legal jobs, and because they want to stay on the dl, they usually do so anonymously.
> Keeping plants. Mason knew a person with plant powers when in testing/confinement, so they have a few succulents and ferns to remind themselves of them. It only meant to be the one plant but their collection keeps on growing somehow.
> Stargazing. While not much for astrology, there probably isn't a sign or constellation they can't name. Their mother was majorly into astronomy before she had them, and even now they often spend time outside or on the roof to clear their head, looking at the stars their mom would always point out to them.
> Reading. Spending lots of time in isolation throughout their life, reading was something they could always do to occupy their mind. They will read most any book they can pick up, fiction or nonfiction, educational or no. In high school they were largely into law and ethics, and recently they've been reading a lot of poetry, some magical realist novels, and books on forensics.

Extra
> At age 17, Mason was kidnapped by the Organization, where they were experimented on, eventually activating their powers. They were then trained to become a weapon for the org, but Mason hid the true extent of their abilities, eventually waiting for their moment to escape.
> Mason lived with their mother until age 10, when she died in the crossfires of a gang shootout outside their home. Mason grew up in the foster care system after that, often running away or causing too much trouble in homes, meaning they would have to jump from home to home. They filed for emancipation at 17, at which point they planned to use their inheritance (which was under lock until they became a legal adult), and money they'd made from selling drugs at parties to move out on their own. They had one more year of high school left, and despite behavioral issues was doing well enough in classes to be on a fast track to college, aiming for a career in law, but because of their abduction, it never panned out.
> Mason got into a lot of trouble as a kid, getting into fights, going to parties, briefly selling drugs. They'd spent more than a few nights in juvie, which of course never helped their feeling trapped.
> Mason's father was never in the picture as a kid, he didn't pay support and certainly never came looking after their mother died, but Mason's grandmother lives somewhere out in Siberia, where their mother was from. Their grandfather came over with her, and she had Mason at a young age. Their grandfather died when Mason was an infant, due to a workplace accident.
> Mason currently works at a diner that makes a point to employ ex-cons and undocumented immigrants, it's very community-driven, and somewhat popular, but it's still a diner job and only pays so well. Mason does mercenary work, often arson-for-hire, on the side to make ends meet, and to have a little spending money for comfort's sake.
> Mason has long since forgiven the people who killed their mother, because it was never intentional and the nature of gangs is such that it's not often the fault of individuals. However, Mason carries a strong vendetta against the Organization that kidnapped and tortured them. They research and seek out their facilities, using their connections made through merc work, and destroy them, killing any and all scientists involved, hoping to find the one that ruined their life just as it was finally working out again. They always make a point to first make sure any victims/subjects escape, and then burn the place to ash.
> Due to their upbringing, and then their situation within the Organization, they've developed major trust issues, a hatred of hospitals and anywhere that has doctors, and just an overall hatred/fear of cramped spaces and such.
> Either because of some remnant of Organization brainwashing, or just moral standing they may have always had, Mason has no qualms with killing people they believe deserve it. They make a point not to make themselves judge jury and executioner too often, with a consistent exception of those involved in the Organization, who get no mercy from them. Sometimes mercenary work calls for hired hits either directly or by proxy of the primary job, and while Mason doesn't enjoy doing this much, they don't feel too much remorse for it at this point.
> Due to the nature of both their lines of work, Mason legally no longer exists, or at the very least not in the same vein as they had prior to their kidnapping. Much of their dna records and information involved in their disappearance was destroyed by the Organization, and while they have their dna on hand, they don't share it with the authorities, and Mason often makes quick work of anyone the Organization send to retrieve them. Missing persons reports were never filed because the school was used to them disappearing, and any concerns brought to the police were quickly discarded. This added with Mason's training has made it very difficult to apprehend them..
> Mason, Jack, Sunny, Rio, and some other powered individuals discovered the Organizations plans to trigger a new Rift event. In the process of the following fights, the 4 of them and the Doctor that was in charge of the project, the same doctor that experimented on them, were transported to other dimension(s). This explains their presence in other universes, such as T3.
