Yara is ditzy and quirky. Despite the villainous things she does, like drowning people, she's always cheerful about it, however is remorseless and doesn't regret her actions unless they pertain to Dagmar and the Poison Tongue. She's devoted to her allies, and ruthless to her enemies. Her eccentric nature leads others into underestimating her. Not being an especially perceptive person, Yara is more of a follower than a leader, and is a devoted one at that. With a laidback attitude, Yara tends to be flirtatious, and makes commitments that she can never keep.
- The lantern she carries around is the source of her abilities. Without it, she's helpless. While not powerful, her abilities are remarkably clever.
- Yara can old her breath for ten minutes. With magic, she can hold it for up to an hour.

Yara has had an unremarkable history. She grew up in a town in an oasis called Al-Taro in the Sarlat Desert, near the sea. Growing up near the waves, she quickly became adept at swimming.
Her unremarkable life became a remarkable one when Samsara kidnapped Yara to be a friend to Dagmar and keep her company. As Dagmar's moral compass, Yara became a sort of guide to her, giving a thoroughly 'mortal' perspective on situations that the other two lacked, and so her status elevated. Years later, despite having the ability to leave, Yara has chosen to stay in order to help facilitate Dagmar's plans out of a geniune caring for her.
When the Poison Tongue arrived in Peverley, Yara took a job as a city lamplighter in order to become familiar with the streets. In this position, she's become a spy for her group, and knows the layout of Peverley like the back of her hand.

Yara was initially kidnapped in order to keep Dagmar company, and since then it's blossomed into a geniune, platonic friendship. Her respect for Dagmar is so great that she'd go to the ends of the earth to do what she asked of her. Dagmar's cold influenced turned Yara from more ethically good into someone sitting more in the grey area.
Samsara sees Yara as an annoyance at best, but Yara doesn't let it get her down. Even when Samsara insults her intelligence and belittles her, Yara takes it all in stride. She's very friendly towards Samsara and geniunely likes her, seeing her as troubled, and doesn't seem to understand that Samsara isn't exactly normal.
Morvana is Yara's direct enemy, though the rivalry between them is very cordial. Yara doesn't even realize that they're enemies, just that they seem to fight once in a while, and Morvana has a way of turning up when it's inconvenient. The two clash, but it's never too personal. Yara is quick to banter with Morvana and holds no personal grudge towards her.
