Summary

Though his family moved from South Korea when he was almost six, his father easily climbed onto the Hunter council with enough time, due to his diligence in the clan’s administrative tasks. It was no surprise then, when the next human incarnation of Eltanin, a powerful demon, was born, the Choi family was entrusted with the responsibility to watch over him and maintain the secret lest his powers grow out of control. Samuel being an only child and the same age as the youngling really didn’t help matters, and so his Hunter duty was drilled into him from a young age, and again when the time to make ‘friends’ with the boy began, all in the name of surveillance.

But as time went on, Samuel realized that that boy was his only true friend - while he always felt a pressure to confirm to the rest of the people around him, Damien accepted him as who he was - secretly introverted, anxious, and insecure.

Trapped between his duties to his family and clan and perhaps the one real friendship he's ever had, Samuel struggles to reconcile the two - unable to separate his wants from that of everyone else's. Is the family need to get into post-graduate school his, or that of his parents? Meanwhile, his anxiety grows heightened by feeling his facade slip as he tries to save face at school and stay out of trouble - even if it's mostly his musical talents pulling the strings. So when the demons flood his hometown in droves, he knows it only makes matters worse. What if they're looking for Damien? And what would he do if he found out?
