As one of the most sought after creatures in both life and death, Deimos possesses control over time. Where he once was an angel, he became obsessed with the responsibilities he was handed and left his former home in search of more power. Years of meditation and gradual shifting of his form has turned him into the golden creature he is today - an empowered physical manifestation of his old soul.

It's debatable if he's even real and not some pretty dream people are chasing after, but either way there is no doubt that he has lost his mind long ago by meditating upon the dark energies surrounding him, in contrast to his own light energies. His intentions are simple: to feast upon the strong, to rip their souls out of their body, even literally by devouring the body parts that contain the soul, and to become the most powerful god any living creature has ever seen. One day he shall reshape the world in geometrical perfection.

Quickstats & Design Notes

125780_hDLQWALrOKUPfMb.png?1507667264
  • Deimos is a former angel given control over time, which led to his undoing

  • He has the power to send people back in time, but he can't travel back himself very far. For this reason he's highly sought after

  • One of his powers is that he can make small jumps back in time, usually not more than 10 seconds on a long cooldown

  • One of his big reasons to obtain power is to reshape the world in the geometrical perfection he obsesses over

  • He's extremely arrogant and cocky, but with a justification of a bigger goal

  • He has eight horns in total, with two rows of four going down his skull

  • His wings are feathered, his tail is made of fur and splits into two parts in the middle

  • While he is completely blind, he can still sense what's around him. This is why he doesn't run into things and knows where stuff around him is, but lacks precision

  • Some of his anatomy is altered; four arms, the lower arms start off very thick at the elbow, long crow-like legs that end in two toes, and a set of extra muscles over his thighs with no function

  • He's giant and underweight (Around 250cm or 8'2)

Design

Deimos is a tall humanoid, being 250cm or 8'2 in height and 300kg or 663lbs in weight. His skin is gold, except for his black tinted arms and legs. His chest, upper legs and arms, and skull are human in shape. He has the lower legs that resemble those of a crow, but they end in two toes at the front, and he has four human-like arms that are deformed so that the start of the upper arms is much broader. Next to his arms, his hips are also deformed, giving him an extra strip of flesh going from his hips to his thighs that serves no purpose. He always wears a blindfold and has a rather flat nose that's too small to be properly visible as a nose. His ears and teeth are pointy.

He has a pair of white feathered wings and a pinkish white fluffy furry tail that splits into two other tails near the middle. On top of his head, he has two rows of four horns, making for eight horns in total. After his transformation his body became sexless. He never really wears something other than the blindfold and the leather wrapping around the place where his tail splits in two. His body is skin to bones. He has muscle, but due to his height and his stretched out anatomy, he appears really thin and underweight.

Colour palette

Deimos has a golden body with a black tint running up his arms and legs. Because of his lack of clothing, his colour palette stays limited to a tricolour gold-black-white.

Personality

Deimos is an arrogant god who believes himself to be above all other creatures and who craves perfection from anyone who hopes to interact with him. The world is broken and he's the only point of light that can reshape it in perfection, but he's unable to acknowledge the demented creature he has become over the years as he chased his goal. Back when he was still a mortal he was the only one who could define perfection, and so far not a single person was able to define it as well as he could. Everything has to be the way he needs it to be to prevent an ignorant fool structuring the world, and he leaves clear instructions to anyone who wants to try to interact with him so that he can be more pragmatic when dealing with those who fail to follow them.

The dealings of mortals aren't that important to him, nearly all are the same. He hopes to replace them with people who instintively know him once he has reshaped the universe. It can even be said that he slightly enjoys getting rid of them himself, a small step towards his endgame with every victim he personally deals with. He feels no remorse lacerating flesh and ripping bodies to shreds to physically tear out their soul and use it as fuel for his plans; they're shells filled with tools he can put to use. Very rarely will he see potential in someone and help them out, if he believes that by utilising them he will capture more souls than if he just devoured the person he might give it a go.

His deepest frustration is that with all this power has was given he still cannot use it for himself. The power to control time is more of an object of status, used to show the world that he and he alone holds one of the most sought after powers in the world and that no one can ever use it. But it doesn't matter. When he is the most powerful thing to exist in a world he shaped himself, even that power pales to the crushing force he has become.

Likes & Interests

  • Order as he sees fit, geometrical patterns

  • Political power and people's unbending loyalty

  • The devouring of souls and increase in power

  • Dealing with disloyal servants

  • Tomius' potential to serve him

Dislikes & Disinterests

  • Any Celestial-sided, except Tomius

  • Damon and his annoyances, including Alexi

  • Most living beings

  • Meagre and empty souls

  • His spontaneous spiritual trips that his time travel powers grant him

Strengths & Assets

  • Knows darkness and light magic

  • Capable of sensing physical things around him

  • Possesses the ability to send people back in time

  • Can jump a few seconds back into time, on a long cooldown

  • Knows how to fight without magic using his sharp claws, his legs, and his sickles

  • Strong enough of a god to eat souls. A soul that was eaten has the same effect on the god as a soul that worships them; it makes them stronger. Deimos has had quite his share of souls to eat already

Weaknesses & Flaws

  • His obsession with geometrical perfection is a large detriment to his cause

  • The demonic souls he carries with him make him susceptible to light magic

  • Has the inclination to destroy allies over small mistakes, bad diplomat

  • General distrust renders making allies nearly impossible

  • Legally blind, his ability to sense things is only weak

  • Vulnerable to many schools of magic

  • Highly dependent on souls

Trivia

1791818_A6rydkSxIWZQ205.png?1507668216
  • He can make small jumps in time, and often uses this to jump back right before he got attacked to take out his enemy. After this jump it takes a few days to a few weeks before he can do it again.

  • He knows light and darkness magic, but will only use it when he's in real danger. Otherwise, he uses his claws and his weapons. He occasionally carries sickles with him he can use to fight as well, but their main function is to more easily decapitate conquered victims for easier devouring.

  • Speaking of sickles, the easiest way to consume a soul is to absorb the power of the mind, the soul, and the life pool, respectively situated in the brain, the chest, and the belly. His method is to eat the head, chest, and intestines of his victims to skip past the annoying procedures of getting all the energy out, as just eating those parts whole works out well. The sickles he carries serve as both weapons and as tools to slice up his more hardy victims his teeth can't rip apart.

  • The form he currently assumes is that of a darkness tainted angel soul. To attain spiritual perfection, Deimos took on the form of his true soul, but by consuming demon souls he absorbed enough darkness essence to effectively taint his own form into one with dark arms and legs.

  • The Cult of the Enlightened is devoted to him, but almost nothing is known about them aside from that they are extremely devoted to Deimos, they carry out his will with a burning passion, and they often have a fascination for geometry. He's been called the patron of modern geometry before.

Story Summary

Once an angel who worked right beneath God's supervision, Deimos was born in a position of power. He possessed military prowess and had an obsession with geometrical perfection the likes of which had never been seen before. He had a world vision he was obsessed with enforcing, even if not all resources were available.

When the other gods urged God to redistribute his own powers among followers, Deimos received the power over time. Over the years, it became clear that redistributing these powers was done to destabilise those who received them, and visions of both the past and the future tormented Deimos. He broke away from Heaven, and without the intention of returning there went missing.

He spent years meditating on his visions, gouging out his eyes in the process and starting his transformation to be closer to his soul's form. Along the way, he learned how to take souls for himself, and his body gained a taint from the amount of demon souls he consumed. He changed his life goal: he wanted to remake the world in the perfection only he could grasp. Nothing would stop him, no notion of souls being worth more than their raw power or the morality of killing. He'd deliver the world from its imperfections and rule a better world.

Full backstory

Much isn't know about Deimos' past, but it's said that he was an angel who had an obsession with a perfection only he could see, which often led him to sprees of trying to recreate this perfection that had standards so high it could only exist in his abstract mind. Obsession with cleanliness, a select few geometrical shapes, and complex arrangements that would take him hours to get done. He channeled this into a positive source, greatly aiding his job with his methods. He was said to be a skilled mathematician and a disciplined artist.

Through his methodical personality and family ties he managed to get into God's small elite army. Time passed, and the other gods forced the god to divide his own powers among his people after he created chaos in the world of the living. Deimos was the one who was handed a part of the control over time travel he possessed, for his eye for detail and his understanding of the importance of the order of time. This skill could undo things that happened in the current dimension, unlike regular time travel which could only alter different realities. This power was to never be used and was given to Deimos only for preservation purposes.

Years went well but things slowly derailed when Deimos realised why God was forced to redistribute his powers; the gods were aware of how badly such relatively young angels would be tormented by their powers and how divided God's agents would become, leading to the loss of these powers. This dawned upon him when he recognised more and more volatile visions of a future where people were divided, and it created doubt. Not only that, but his incredible power was useless to him as a person, as he could only send others back into the past.

Suffering under his gigantic responsibilities and a feeling of inevitability, he eventually lost vision on his task and abandoned his old life in Heaven. After all, who was he to fight the plans for him? Why would he see all this perfection followed by visions of a future where he broke away from his god if he wasn't born to carry the world into a new future?

His unannounced departure from Heaven broke him away from everything is old life stood for - now that he was released onto the Patchwork, he had a very hard time channeling his obsessions into something meaningful. Some days it was so painful he couldn't sleep, and eventually he started channeling it into his magic. Next to survival, all he did in a day was cast his magic into satisfying formations. He grew quickly, and his vicinity to God definitely rubbed off on him and gave him a bit of a boost.

He had no interest in overthrowing Heaven at that time, however, and simply left into the Second World shortly after he began his spiritual journey, only to find himself lost in spirituality and gouging his eyes out to stop the visions of different times. After hundreds of years of meditating by himself he reached his final form, the golden personification of an angel's soul much bigger than his own physical body. He was completely blind of reality, only alive in his own delusions and fantasy, and he was pretty sure that people should start worshipping him as the hero he would soon become instead of that nutjob God.

More and more he felt the need to best the other gods by gaining more souls than them. By this time he was finished with his transformation, and he had attained quite the amount of power from shedding his regular form. He learned that he could simply take souls for himself and devour them to add them to his own power instead of having to wait for them to start worshipping him.

The easiest souls to prey on were the souls of that newborn race, the Livian Demons, that had recently begun inhabiting Life. He started off slowly, still giving the worship option a chance, but it quickly became apparent to him that this wouldn't work and that devouring a soul from time to time was a lot more satisfying.

A couple of souls turned into a mountain of souls as he felt himself get addicted to this sweet taste and feeling linked to gaining more and more souls for himself. The more desperate and scared the souls, the better of a taste they left behind and the more satisfied the lord found himself to be. His soul consumption increased and as it did, his body started to have this taint to it. It started on his fingers and toes, but the more he ate, the higher up the grey discolouration crawled.

He could feel the taint crawl higher and higher and enjoyed the feeling, believing that once he was covered from head to toe he would be capable of eating the world and triumphing over God's corpse. For the first time his intention to destroy the world and all living creatures overtook him, and to this day it hasn't diminished even a bit.

Until this day, his location is unknown, but it is sure that a lot of power-hungry people are searching for the Lord of Time to find a compromise or to strike him down.

God ✦ Former employer, adversaries

God is both Deimos' creator and his former employer. Back when Deimos was still a normal angel, he made his way up to a very high position in the Celestials' administration and military, and he ended up working directly under God. When the god's powers had to be redistributed, Deimos was given the control over time.

Deimos ended up breaking away from Heaven, and while he's hunted by God, he does not consider him an enemy, but merely a potential roadblock in his plans.
