Noah is a self-confident young man, who happens to be a bit conservative quite often. He hates to not be right, but he admires constructive criticism because he knows how important that is to improve. He doesn’t like to stay behind others and tends to have the urge of being better than others, that’s why he happens to be quite jealous sometimes, especially of his sisters. Noah is an absolute realist and can estimate situations and persons quite well. He’s also quite good in self-reflection, however, he doesn’t show too much emotions towards others, or at least no negative ones, because he doesn’t want to seem weak, but strong. It’s quite important for him what others think of him.
He really is a family person, but he also has a good amount of friends. He likes to be sarcastic and is quite funny in his friends‘ eyes, that’s why they mostly admire him. Noah still has a quite good relationship with most of his sisters, even though they can be quite annoyed of him for being either too sarcastic or too serious, most likely there's no in-between. However, he still is a good listener and can give good advices most of the time.
Because of him being the only son of the family, he sometimes acts like a third parent in front of his sisters, and he would totally be this overprotective big brother, being suspicious about their potential boyfriends ( if he actually knew them ).

✧ Noah enjoys playing card games very much, more precisely skat. After he learned it from his friends, he showed it to his sisters Ronja, Emma and Suvi. While Suvi wasn’t too interested and didn’t join them quite often, Ronja and Emma were highly interested, at least at first. Ronja gave it up as soon as their games basically became matches just between Noah and Emma, because Emma learned way faster than Ronja, and Noah already had quite the experience. ✦ Story

Noah grew up in Trost, Wall Rose, together with his five sisters. Their parents owned a saddlery, were they made and sell a diversity of leather goods just like saddles, headgear, collars, but also bags and belts. Additionally their mother knitted and crocheted blankets. With all this, the family earned enough money to live a good life. The father tought his first-born, his only son Noah, in leatherworking when he turned 10. This became a tradition for the family. Everytime one of their children turned 10, the next oldest sibling would teach them in leatherworking. So, Noah showed it to his sister Ronja. Noah was totally okay with being involved in the family’s business at such a young age, in fact, he really liked to have such responsibility, because he knew he would make his parents proud. What he didn’t really like about all that, that his sisters were involved, too. Noah was quite conservative and didn’t like that he was doing the same work as girls. Noah actually once tried to convince his father that it would be better for them to just knit and crochet like their mother, because they couldn’t get such responsibility. His father was very disappointed in Noah when he told him his thoughts. He explained Noah that it would be necessary for their buisness because they can use all help they could get, and that, besides that, his sisters would make a very good job. Noah wasn’t too happy to hear this, he even became jealous that his father was also proud of them, and not just of him. However, Noah always gave his best to make his parents proud and to get appreciation from them. While their father kept being very or even more proud of Noah’s sisters, their mother was kinda „on Noah’s side“. She didn’t like to see her girls working so hard in the saddlery, that’s why she pushed Noah to work harder by giving him appreciation and such, to relieve her girls. Noah didn’t realize the actual reason for his mother’s pride, so he slowly built a stronger connection to her.

When Ronja told him about her plans to join the military, Noah was speechless. He didn’t want his sister to be „something better than himself“, or more precisely, he didn’t want to seem weak by staying savely with his family while his sister showed initiative/determination and joined the military. It didn’t fit in his „image of a women“, he didn’t want to stay behind Ronja. But at the same time, he wasn’t brave enough to show otherwise, he could not and absolutely didn’t want to join the military. He was happy where he was. But nontheless, he couldn’t stand his sister wanting to become „something better“. That’s why he yelled at her, calling her stupid for her wish to be individual and risking her life just for that. Noah knew that he would hurt Ronja with that, but at this moment he couldn’t hold back his emotions. So they ended up in a big fight, and never spoke again for like three years. Noah didn’t even say goodbye when Ronja left.

One day there’s a huge fire which destroyed their house and the saddlery, and also took almost all family members. The only survivors are Noah, Emma and Suvi. While Noah is under quite a shock, he knows that there’s not much time to be sad, even though he knows, that his almost perfect life was gone now for sure. But he knows perfectly fine that he has to take the responsibility for his sisters now. They have the luck to have the permission to stay at their mother’s friends as long as needed, as long as they help in the household and contribute some money for staying and eating with them. So Noah starts working in a bar to make sure they can stay there for the time being. But because of his job, Noah often is quite exhausted and annoyed when he gets home, because he actually doesn’t like to communicate with strangers, so that he unconsciously disregards his sisters.
When he learns from Suvi that she and Emma will follow Ronja and join the military, Noah is near a mental breakdown. He desperately tries to convince them otherwise, but they already made their decisions. Noah is scared to be alone and to lose his sisters, too, and since he already misses Ronja very much, he really doesn’t want them to go. The remaining time before their time to leave he constantly tries to keep them by his side, but his sisters leave anyway. Noah keeps working at the bar, secretly saving to one day opening a new saddlery, so that he will eventually manage to bring the family together again.

After Ronja gets seriously injured during the mission to retrieve Wall Maria/Shiganshina ("Return to Shiganshina" Arc), Ronja and Noah finally get in touch again ever since their fight. They make up and all four siblings decide to support each other from now on, no matter what. Actually Noah tries to convince his sisters to leave the military to open a new saddlery and to live in peace (as long as possible) together as family, but after finding out the truth about the titans, Ronja and Suvi can’t let go. Emma decides to leave the military and support Noah from now on. She starts to work as a waitress in the bar Noah works at too, and together they try to save up for building up a new saddlery. However, Noah can’t stand the risk of his sisters getting hurt again or even worse, but he decides to support them as good as possible from now on, and is really thankful that at least Emma returned to him and will stay.

✦ Family

Ronja

Ronja is Noah's younger sister. As the two oldest siblings, they were inseparable until the day Ronja left the family's house to join the military. Noah did worry a lot, yes, but - most importantly - he wasn't too pleased that his sister (as a woman) joined the military, while he stayed at home. Not only that, but he didn't even want to go to the military since he was very scared. The fact that his sister was brave enough and he was not, hurt his masculinity. So he broke up any contact with Ronja until she was heavily injured after battle (about 3 years after their fight). Ronja misses him a lot during that time, but is too proud to encourage a debate.

Emma

Emma is Noah's younger sister. They come along quite well most of the time. Sometimes Noah makes a little fun of Emma's awkwardness, but most of the time Emma takes it with humor and laughs about herself, because she knows that he's somehow right. She also knows that he cares a lot for her, and so does she for him. Even though they don't spend too much time together, they love and enjoy their time playing cards together.

Suvi

Suvi is Noah's little sister. Their relationship is difficult, they don't come along very well because their personalities and views on the world are just too different. They do care for each other, but if they're together they just annoy each other and don't even really try to come along. Their conversations most likely end up in teasing and making jokes about each other.
