Guise

A flawed and hypocritical individual who lives in the world of 'Mellume'.

"A weave of often contradictory traits and actions born of a combination of trauma, experience and supposed lessons tuned to her own beliefs. Many find Greitai to be intolerable: too cruel, too swift to anger, too willing to do everything that might make her a villain in others' eyes. Greitai rarely acts to correct these views of her, but those who earn a place in the raptoress' heart find someone far softer than she lets on. She harbors a soft spot for children and those she loves, often going to extreme lengths to protect them -- even should she be forced to put herself on the line. Though sharp words and sharper teeth come easily, perhaps even more so to those she cherishes, beneath them lies a wish to see those under her wing obey one simple command: survive."


Forest
  • Skull mask, real deer pelts, magpie antlers.
  • At size #10, or 1.45m at the withers.
  • Moderate in body, long of leg and neck. Occasional limp.
  • Neck is flexible and sinuous, enough that she can comfortably lay it on her back while at rest.
  • Feathers are expressive and communicative. Patterned with wide, empty eyes along the outer edge of her crest. Molts several times a year.
  • When flared, her feathers make her appear larger than she is.
  • Jaws are capable of swinging widely - up to a 70 degree angle.
  • Scarred.
  • Teeth are recurved and serrated. Designed for tearing and stripping flesh, not for crushing.
  • Golden eyed. Pupils 'pin' in a manner similar to birds.
  • Face is scaled, body is furred. Feathers grow from her crown, neck, elbows and down the back of the thigh.
  • Does not possess external ears. Ear canal opening is hidden by feathers.
  • Capable of a wide variety of sounds; most prominently growls, hisses, and screeches.
  • Technically, not a mammal!
Human
  • Brunette hair, falls down past her shoulders. Almost always tied back and seldom worn loose.
  • Athletic, weathered. Occasional limp.
  • Littered with scars. Most prominent is a scar around her neck, jagged tooth impressions. Occasionally wears a neck scarf or pops up the collar of her jacket to conceal it.
  • Manages a toothy grin even with a set of normal human dentition.
  • Eyes are amber instead of gold, but the intensity is always the same.
  • Practical in style, not very adventurous. Favours a brown leather jacket with most outfits.
  • Doesn't wear makeup. Claims she doesn't have the time or interest for it.
  • As a general rule, doesn't wear jewellery. Exception is a silver, tooth-shaped charm that's often found hanging from her hair.

Depth
Demeanour

Highly sociable but wouldn’t be considered friendly by most. On her good days, an energetic and spirited individual with a mischievous streak – though prone to taking things too far. On the bad, often volatile and contradictory, with a sharp eye for the weaknesses in others.

Supportive. To those she builds a connection with, strongly devoted. At times, may push them toward an outcome she believes will better their standing or their future at the detriment of her relationship with an individual. Believes strongly in building up those she loves, though her methods may leave much to be desired.

Sticks to her convictions, for better or worse, and rarely ever regrets - no matter how things turn out.

Strongly opinionated. Difficult to sway once she’s made up her mind, values the opinions of a select few and generally adverse to attempts to shift her opinions. Doesn’t rely on anyone else to make decisions for her, rarely asks for help or a second opinion.

History

Born in a world far from the Endless, full of greenery and its own native species. Prone to extreme changes in weather, her life before the forest was full of its own challenges. Entered the forest through no willl of her own and was trapped within its boundaries for a number of years. Though she's travelled to many worlds since, a fondness for forestry has always remained.

Has always sought some semblance of a family structure within the forest, some which cling on and some that have long since shattered. For years, longed for a child of her own. Eventually was granted her wish - named her daughter Vrasa. Struggled with many aspects of her daughter's early life, with how at odds and ill-matched they seemed on nearly every level. At times, she still does.

Throughout the years, has gradually drifted from the forest as her primary residence. The huntress has collected a small handful of worlds that retain her interest and, for now, lives in the dreaming city of Mellume in a home she once shared with Vrasa. Counted among the Hunters of this world, works to support the small home she maintains alone.

Trivia
  • Suffers chronic pain from old injuries.
  • Extroverted and social, thrives with a steady social circle. Not without her need for solitude, however, and defends it when needed.
  • Occasional memory issues and a habit of denial mean she may often have skewed versions of events. May then prove these to herself.
  • Finds strength in discomfort, and often seeks it out for this purpose.
  • Expressive and volatile, quick to anger.
  • Took up woodcarving as a hobby a few years ago. Makes little trinkets for the most part, though mostly for herself.
  • Tea drinker. Enjoys trying different kinds and blends.
  • Generally reserved for those she's close with, enjoys playing pranks. Usually harmless, though crosses the line at times.
  • Highly maternal. Has taken many children under her wing over the years, regardless of the heartache she often finds in it. By no means a soft or gentle mother, but dedicated and tries her best.

Misc.
Combat

An experienced combatant, Greitai uses finesse and precision instead of raw strength. Seldom fights with the intent to deliver lethal damage, though capable of doing so both physically and mentally. Most often, matches the intensity of her opponent or attempts to entice them to the limit of their aggression.
Intent matters.

Her primary weapons are her teeth and hooves. Equipped with a mouth full of serrated, recurved teeth designed for shearing flesh from bone. Proficient with their use. Uses her forehooves to box or kick, blunt edges that deliver a punch carried by her momentum in battle. Her rear legs are less precise in their strikes, lashing out in kicks that may be delivered as either threat or attack. Most often aims either for the bulk of her opponent’s body or to clip their neck or head with the hardened edge of her hooves.

Her strengths are her speed and agility, often able to get around the defences of her opponents – though may still be outpaced or outmanoeuvred by some individuals. Though she has enough endurance able to keep up with longer scuffles on the merit of her physical fitness, plagued by chronic injuries that may slow her down if she isn’t careful or pushes herself too hard. Possessed of a drive and grit that pushes her onward, at times more flaw than virtue.

By no means fragile but doesn’t have many defences beyond her agility and ability to read incoming hits. If she isn’t careful – or lucky enough – a few well-placed hits can bring a skirmish to a quick end. In contrast, well weathered by pain and known to push herself beyond her limits, often to her own detriment – all depending on the stakes. Most vulnerable are her legs, underside, and neck as serious damage to these areas will swiftly stop most encounters, though there are certain consequences to aiming for such areas as well.

Haunts
The Endless Forest

The Nest* – Her home within the Endless. Composed of a collection of feathers, grasses, sticks, and other vegetation, the raptoress’ nest lays in a valley, in a scrape beside the thick trunk of a tree. Beneath the roots of the tree is a dug-out den, a space that occasionally contains a few scattered possessions.

Overlook – A place that used to be a frequent haunt of hers, now visited out of habit and in memoriam.

Mellume

Hearth and Home – Shares a small home with her daughter in the Dreaming City. A simple domicile with modest furnishings located within one of the many sprawling suburbs of Mellume. The abode is decorated with combination of mother and daughter’s interests and tastes, at times in contrast with one another.

The Forest – Dangerous in ways both familiar and unfamiliar. Works, alongside other hunters, in procuring resources from trapping, hunting, and gathering items for trade. Despite its dangers, pulled toward the verdant forest and its shifting shadows.

Other

Has access to a handful of other worlds entrusted to her by important individuals.
