Profile

Name: Djinn | pronouns: she/her/they | Age Range: ?? | Orientation: undecided

Djinn is both strong-willed and impulsive, and for most of her life fairly naive which is really a horrible combination. Although sweet, she can have a pretty rough reaction to things that don’t fit into her moral code, which will cause her problems with Alciel down the road. She can be a little morally gray, but she’s generally good-natured.

Djinn’s early life was difficult. Born far later than her sister Nazira, she was raised sheltered and restricted. She didn’t want for much, not in the way of material possessions, but she was terribly lonely. Djinn could barely remember Nazira, she would just remember the feeling of freedom and love, and the carefree smiles from the elder sister. She could remember how one day Nazira never returned from the market, and she could remember the sorrow and the hollowness of their parents-- of how they so rarely spoke of her again unless Djinn stepped out of line and caused issues.

“You’ll end up like your sister!”

“You’ll never see us again if you go alone, remember your sister? Do you want that?”

Eventually, Djinn’s quiet “no’s” and sniffles turned to defiant answers.

“It would be better than being a prisoner to you!”

“I’m already captive here, how could it be worse?”

It didn’t even surprise her parents when she slipped away and didn’t return the night she vanished. They resigned themselves to quietly mourning another daughter after their searches turned up nothing.

But Djinn’s life was not what she expected it to be. At thirteen, she was on the streets as a runaway in a world she barely knew. She had been so sheltered as a child, the real world was like a fantasy to her and money… well, money was a completely foreign concept. As a child, she had never wanted after needs but now she struggled to earn enough of a living for food. That is how a sorcerer is able to deceive her so easily into following him when she ruins one of his schemes, and is sold to a fae until she is set free centuries later and discovered by a young Alciel.

Alciel, realizing that this young viscet has no experience in this time period and is magically gifted, begins to train her in magic where she becomes proficient in mostly plant and earth-related magics.

As a side effect Djinn finds she ages extremely slowly from her spelled by the fae, which seems to her to be a curse until she meets her sister once more who had stopped aging centuries ago. Their reunion is sweet if not a little short as Djinn feels obligated to follow alongside Alciel through his adventures for a time. Though that doesn’t stop her from visiting Nazira and her wife and children as often as possible.

She has a special connection to her nieces as well, and spends a good chunk of her time with Nazira’s family showing the children magic tricks.
