Bugaboo speaks with gentle eloquence, but each word that he speaks is calculated to maintain a facade of approachable professionalism. His smile doesn’t often reach his eyes. However, when he decides to show his genuine smile, you should take extra caution. It’s normal to smile when you hear good news, but good news for Bugaboo isn’t always good news for other people.

Something's Off
Even if he isn't doing anything, Bugaboo always looks suspicious and he often makes people around him uneasy. His off-putting appearance mostly has to do with how only one of his eyes is visible at a time - the other eye is usually hidden in the shadows underneath his hair. He would be most inclined to find those who are able to maintain eye contact to be worth talking to.
The Hot Spot
Bugaboo’s family is wealthy. As such, he inherited and manages a 4-star hotel called “The Augur’s Nook” that caters to all types of beings, including demons, mortals, and the blessed. The Augur’s Nook is considered to one of the official places for business transactions…both legal ones, and less than legal ones. Lots of negotiation happens at The Augur’s Nook.
Ribs
Bugaboo's special method of combat is based on the ribs protruding out of his sides. These ribs are able to extend, shrink, and bend at his will. However, the ribs can not extend beyond their original length, so they are only useful for short-ranged combat. These appendages are useful for intimidating and piercing targets.
Ash-tinted Glasses
Bugaboo’s view on society is stagnant - he primarily believes traditional stereotypes (i.e., demons are inherently violent, the poor are poor because they don’t work hard enough, etc.). His family is powerful, influential, and dangerous, so not many people have dared to challenge his worldviews.

Ribs Unique
The ribs rapidly contort into long, sharp appendages. They look and feel threatening.
Shooting Stars Magic
Small stars are shot towards a target with the wag of a tail. Upon contact, they emit a flash of intense, disorienting light. These stars do not have a physical effect.

Canon History
Currently, Bugaboo manages a successful 4-star hotel called “The Augur’s Nook” that caters to the fiends, the blessed, and everything in between. Hotel amenities include free toiletries, robes/slippers, umbrellas, a pillow menu, night room lighting, and an on-site medical team. Furthermore, in addition to having the option to book 2-bed and 4-bed rooms, The Augur’s Nook offers the following:
- Basement: Night club, a dance area, and a pool
- 1st Floor: Convenience store and a small café
- 2nd Floor: A common hang-out area, a few study rooms, and a medium-sized eatery
- 3rd-5th Floors: Hotel rooms
- 6th Floor: Worker quarters and workspace, the hotel kitchen, and Bugaboo’s office
Bugaboo's family comes from a long line of notorious pillagers. According to his family history, the bloodline is genetically predispositioned to commit violent crimes due to their quick temper and lack of empathy. Due to his family roots, he always looks suspicious no matter what he does. (When you come from a family of violent people, sometimes the children turn out looking suspicious.) There's always a shadow on his face. Typically only one eye can be seen at a time.
As the wealthy hotel owner, Bugaboo has many connections that he can pull…but the true reason for the unqualified respect that he receives is because his family is part of a powerful mafia organization. Sensus is split into many factions, so it’s common for fiends to bargain, bribe, and beat each other into submission.
Character Trivia
- The black and red things on his sides are actually his ribs. It is painful when a rib is broken, but it can also grow back after a period of time.

Bugaboo is always seen clean and well-groomed. His hair is styled in a way where it looks like it was gently windblown but not messy at the same time. (Basically, he has fluffy emo hair)
Bugaboo's physique is toned but not overtly muscular. In terms of size, he is between medium and large, so his default physical presence is not particularly remarkable. He is most often seen with a sneer.
- Bugaboo has 2 eyes, but only 1 eye is shown at a time. The closest eye to the viewer is visible, while the farther eye is hidden by shadows or his hair.
- His hat and cape are optional. His hat is adorned with 5 gold stars. He doesn't wear his cape often.
- Bugaboo wears a gold earring and a gold ring to show off his wealth.
Design Trivia
- The word "Bugaboo" means "an object that causes fear or alarm".
- Bugaboo's "one-eye showing" design is inspired by the character White Blood Cell from the anime Cells at Work!
- The rib appendage idea came in a flash of inspiration and is very loosely inspired by "I Am Sorry, Jon" (tw: Body Horror), particularly in regards to Lumpy Touch's Gameboy Garfield series on YouTube.
Primrose
[ Indentured Employee ] Bugaboo owns Primrose's debt. He "hires" her as a legal/regulatory consult, but he is also interested in watching Primrose struggle with fiend culture. Unlike Bugaboo, Primrose has a spark of kindness in her. He wants to watch Primrose lose faith in her principles, because according to his belief, you either die a hero or you live long enough to become the villain.
Bugaboo is used to receiving fearful compliance from the fiends around him, but Primrose does not show him the same admiration as the others. Bugaboo finds their interactions to be "intellectually stimulating." Rich people get bored way too easily.
Wyck
[ Indirect Intern ] Wyck is Primrose's intern, so Bugaboo doesn't speak much to Wyck. As far as Bugaboo is concerned, Wyck is taciturn and boring.
Cadenza
[ Employee ] Bugaboo hires Cadenza to throw "super hella banger parties" at the hotel's nightclub. Specifically, Cadenza is the hotel's personal celebrity who is known to be a versatile showwoman and DJ. Cadenza also helps with collecting marketing information, but she is never allowed to control the hotel's social media pages. One time, she sent out a status update of "be ready 2 party @ the augur's nook tonite!! hmu w/ song recs bc we're gonna make Bugabae sing karoke ;3". Not only were the DMs flooded with song requests, but Bugaboo lost his voice for 3 days after that incident.
Botchader
[ Stranger ] Bugaboo doesn't have an opinion on Botchader. They've only met because Botchader was the one who took care of Jinkins when he was in trouble (see below).
Jinkins
[ Disagreeable Stranger ] Jinkins has picked fights with multiple hotel patrons and is directly rude to Bugaboo. In fact, Jinkins doesn't seem to be capable of rational thought, and he's only agreeable when Botchader manages to drag him away from the offending situation. Bugaboo is *this* close to banning Jinkins from the establishment entirely.
