Though her first impression of Matthew was that he was just another air-headed gay boy trying to get at the models, his determination to succeed at his job eventually won her over and they became close friends. Together they watch out for Francesca, one of the younger and more emotionally vulnerable models. Francesca jokingly calls them "Mom" and "Dad".
