Superego (Blackbear and Whitebear)

The Superego, separately known as Blackbear and Whitebear, is an entity that takes form in two bears. Blackbear is characterized for its trigger-happy commencement of punishment, while Whitebear is defined by its passive, almost cowardly state.

Appearance

Blackbear has a dark, almost-black coat, completely desaturated or slightly tinged with blue. It bears a short pair of horns and claws, and has a white muzzle, belly, and paws. Its eyes are slanted towards at the inner corners. Whitebear has a light coat, usually pink, though can be coloured light blue or close to white. It has a white muzzle, belly, and paws. Its eyes are slanted upwards at the outer corners.

Odd Phenomenon

Odd Phenomenon is loosely based on the Freudian idea of the human psyche (see Odd Phenomenon). Each parts of the psyche are splintered into metaphysical manifestations, in which they both exist and do not. The Superego's role is to bring balance to the Id and the Ego; it operates as a punisher of sorts, to control the Id's impulsivity, as well as to tone down the Ego's super-rational workings. The Superego itself, however, is dysfunctional, resulting in little to no control of either of the other psyches, letting the two destroy each other until a victor emerges. The Superego is made up of two parts: the Conscience and the Ideal Self.

The Conscience (Blackbear)

The Conscience is a Justice of sorts; it punishes the ego if it makes realistic choices than moralistic, and suppresses the id's impulsive, emotional behaviours. It holds power over both, and can affect them at a mortal level. Its sadistic tendencies, however, leads to overpunishment or a completely passive stance, letting the Id and the Ego ravage until one winner is left. Due to the Id's powerful, instinctual violence, it tends to defeat the Ego while it is still calculating its choices, often letting the Id win, overcoming the body with destructive rage. At the rare occasion the Ego wins, however, the body is overcome with cold, completely rationalistic behaviour. Funnily enough, the two states of psyche-overtake has no discernible 14548650_w0Um8Hwdmck7lWm.pngdifference between each other: both are incredibly selfish.

The Ideal (Whitebear)

While the Conscience deals with the inner workings, the Ideal focuses on the outward consequence. The Ideal ensures that the body's decisions, whichever psyche controls it and to what degree, makes choices that do not interfere with the body's aspirations and social status. Despite its power to punish the psyche on par with the Conscience, the Ideal chooses not to at all, leading to the body's outward erratic behaviour that does not at all conform to normalcy. Its passiveness means that the victorious psyche may do whatever it wants, damned be its social consquences.
