About

Ursula is a Lambda Floss that’s currently living in the Theta Clan as a tailor. She specializes in making kimonos and yukatas to fit people’s exact sizes, and she’ll also sell fans and other Theta-oriented accessories on the side. Her sales shoot up the roof whenever the month of April, the same month that celebrates and honors the Theta Clan, comes by.

Even if she does miss her friends back in the Lambda Clan on occasion, her new life here is still pretty good so far. She currently lives in a small and cozy house with her husband Gin and their nine-year-old son Brett.

Personality

Ursula’s a bit of a strict bitch, but she usually means well. She’s also quite fluent in sarcasm and won’t hesitate to shank you with her sharp words if you dare cross paths with her.

For as long as she can remember, she’s always been pretty honest and independent. She’s never had to rely on people to get to her goals and will usually have trouble communicating her feelings with someone because of this. Some habits are just too hard to break.

She’s incredibly ambitious and will try her damn hardest to impress and be the best at whatever she does. Her husband Gin has insisted that she take more breaks, and she does try, but sometimes she can’t help it. The feeling of being productive and getting shit done just feels so right to her.

Abilities

As a Lambda, Ursula has the ability to sense and control the emotions of others. She’s pretty weak as a Lambda and hasn’t bothered to practice her powers to a large degree, but she knows from personal experience that she can specifically trigger a little bit of joy in people if she tried hard enough.

The only times she’s ever used her powers was when she started taking care of her son Brett and making him happy. It was only then did she truly start using her abilities more.

Backstory

While growing up in a rich and prestigious family, Ursula grew up learning a handful of skills. One of her main priorities at the time was playing the violin. She was raised listening to an exquisite and fine variety of classical music. And just like her parents, Ursula learned to read music notes as fluently as words in a book.

Because her parents were big-time orchestra musicians that used to be solo performers, even though they had never forced her to play an instrument and allowed her free will to do whatever she wanted, Ursula still felt this pressure to be just like them.

So, even though she never really had a love or passion for something like violin, Ursula kept practicing and playing it anyway since she felt like she had to, perhaps to somehow live up to their legacy. In a way, it was like a self-fulfilling prophecy.

She didn’t hate violin, and she did like it as a hobby, but convincing herself to be dead set on it as a passion and future career choice was difficult. Still though, she kept trying at it, and her parents were proud of her becoming this musical prodigy anyway. No backing out of it now.

By the time she was in high school, she was already known as a violin prodigy by her teachers and friends. She would even compete in world-wide competitions whenever she could. All of her orchestra friends and pretty everyone that knew of her talent loved her.

Ursula worked day and night to achieve her skills. She wasn’t naturally born to play the violin well, she didn’t have natural talent like some of her rivals and she could only play well because of all the work she put into it. Things were looking up for her, and she hoped to achieve her dream of becoming a famous musician in due time.

One day, while hanging out at a homecoming dance with some of her orchestra friends, she accidentally bumped into this Lambda guy that had spilled fruit punch all over her expensive dress. She had been angry at first and was ready to give him a scolding, but after taking one look at him, she realized that he was kinda cute.

Ursula didn’t have the time to maintain a romantic relationship, but she was still a teenager. She still had a lot of hormones running through her at the time. And so, she told Gin (that was his name) to make up for ruining her dress by taking her out to dinner the next day. She didn’t intend on dating him, but he was a potential hook up partner with a cute face and she was going to go with it.

Gin seemed very inexperienced, and though she wasn’t all that experienced herself and had only had a few other flings before him, Ursula decided to stick with him as a friend with benefits anyway. She had planned to split ways with him once high school was done with, and she made this very clear to him.

One day, during her last year of high school, she discovered some horrifying news: she was pregnant. She confided in Gin about this, since he was the only one who could be the father. She had wanted to abort the child since she wasn’t ready to be a parent and had too many plans for her future, but Gin insisted that she go through with the pregnancy. He pleaded with her, begging for her to at least give him a chance to raise the child instead since the kid was a part of him, or at least that’s how he saw things.

After listening to him for what felt like forever, Ursula conceded with his request. She shortly gave birth during the summer after their high school graduation. The baby had been born earlier than expected, so it had been a premature pregnancy, but it had still been done nonetheless.

Though Ursula had felt a little bad for wanting to terminate all parental rights in court, she also felt like she needed to do this for the sake of her music career. She had already been scouted and invited to join an orchestra all the way over in the Theta region, there were just too many things happening at the moment, she needed to practice frequently, and she couldn’t selfishly get a child involved in all of that.

At first, after having moved to the Theta Clan, her violin performances were great. She was acknowledged as a prodigy over there too and she had quickly gained a lot of fame for her talent and hard work.

One day, however, that all crumbled to the ground. She had been playing during a live concert when a severe case of musician's cramp rendered her dominant hand useless. She failed to play the correct notes right in front of thousands of people, and she had made a complete and utter fool of herself in the process.

It was the most humiliating experience of her life.

Shortly after failing her whole orchestra and herself, she had to go to the hospital to get her hand checked out and call it quits. She returned to the Lambda Clan after her doctor had advised that she not play the violin for several months.

With nowhere else to go and nothing to work for, she rang Gin - the former friend with benefits that she hadn’t spoken to in months - up before showing on his doorstep. Of course, he looked hesitant to see her at first, but being the nice guy that she knew him to be, he let her stay with him anyway after she explained herself.

Ursula didn’t expect herself to get comfy. She had only came to Gin because she knew he was nice enough to let her stay while she slowly recovered from the depression that had plagued her since the musician’s cramp incident.

Gin had also (and surprisingly enough) made it very clear that he didn’t want her to come back as Brett’s mother. Brett was the name of their— no, his son, which Gin had chosen for him. He told Ursula that she already had her chance at being a mom and she lost it. He didn’t feel right with her being around Brett, but he was still okay with her rooming with him until she felt ready to start a new stage in her life.

Though she didn’t plan on getting attached, it was inevitable that she and Gin see each other every morning. She started learning more about him than she ever had back when they used to be friends-with-benefits.

Though he could be anxious to the point of being overbearing sometimes, Gin was really sweet and selfless. He certainly cared a lot about Brett, something that Ursula found… cute.

She couldn’t help but fall for him, which was awful because she knew that she didn’t deserve Gin with their history. He deserved so much better than her.

Ursula was nothing but an empty shell without her violin skills. For all of her life, she had identified as a violinist, and now she wasn’t even that. Without the musical fame that she had clung to, she was just an all around awful person.

One day, Gin had blacked out from an extremely horrible panic attack and was to remain in the hospital for a few days. Ursula was horrified to hear such news. She knew that he was a generally nervous Floss, but she had never known that he was diagnosed with an actual anxiety disorder. This was a lot more serious than she had expected.

He called her to have his agender friend Maleko, who she remembered talking to back in high school through him, come in to watch over Brett for a while. When Ursula had tried to do so, however, she found out that Maleko was far away on vacation with their girlfriend Summer. They weren’t available.

Ursula didn’t have a choice but to take care of Brett in this situation. She struggled to at first, and she didn’t know what to do whenever he wouldn’t stop crying. She eventually was able to make him laugh and calm down a bit with her Lambda abilities, something that she had never bothered to use before all that much.

Eventually, she got used to tending to him whenever he felt hungry or wanted attention, and by the time Gin had came back, she was already singing him lullabies to sleep.

For the first time since she had known him, Gin looked furious to see Ursula touching and holding onto Brett. Before she could explain herself, he took a moment to calm down by going outside before speaking to her.

She tried to apologize and explain what was going on. Feeling remorseful about how everything had gone down between them so far, Ursula promised Gin that she was trying to be better.

”I’m sorry that I was an awful person,” Ursula had said. “But I think I want to be a mom. I know it might be insensitive of me to say this, but after taking care of Brett today, I think I want to at least try. Even if you don’t like me doing so, you can’t stop him if he wants to see me someday.”

Gin knew she was right, so he conceded for now. Ursula was really trying and he had to let her at least do that. As the days passed by, Ursula tried her best to truly know Brett and Gin. She eventually worked her way up to earning Gin's respect.

Gin gradually gave her a second chance to be Brett’s mom. After going to court and sorting all of the legal issues out, Ursula decided to confess to Gin. She figured it was now or never.

Gin became teary after hearing her confession, but he couldn’t answer her quite yet. He needed more time to process things.

It took a few more years before he was able to come around and say that he felt the same way back. Now Ursula was given another chance to start over, but this time their relationship would be taken much more seriously now.

There were some bumps along the way, and Gin having trust issues didn’t help at first, but they were able to overcome them together. They eventually got married on Brett’s 5th birthday, and they had celebrated with a big and festive ceremony in the Lambda Clan.

Now Ursula’s currently living a satisfying marriage with Gin in the Theta Clan. She had moved back in the Theta region to set up her sewing business after rediscovering a passion for making clothes, something she used to only do on the side back when she was a professional violinist. She’s happy that she and her husband are doing well so far, and she hopes it’ll remain like this for as long as they’re together.

Other

Ursula had always liked designing and making clothes as a kid, but she had never put her skills to practical use until she had stopped playing violin professionally. Violin had been her main priority for the longest time, but now it’s just something she can play whenever she wants to show off.

She may not play professionally anymore, but Ursula will still play the violin every now and then for fun (she can finally enjoy it for once), especially for her son Brett since he likes her playing. He’s tried to imitate her by playing the violin too, which she found cute. He knows how to play the basics thanks to her, but he’s no expert and she’ll only encourage him to keep playing if he wants to.

Gin used to do all the cooking in the house because she couldn’t cook for shit. He still does all of the cooking to this day while she cleans.
