Plot Significance
PlotRole

Myxuki is a renowned eatharyian mathematician who is most notable for her perfection of functional time travel, as well as her oddly contradictory disposition.

Appearance

Short, roughly 5' tall or so, with a frail, somewhat childish build and slightly pale complexion.

Her hair is cut in a boyish style, naturally colored an intriguing peach-pink-orange color. Her eyes are light blue.

Earth Attire

Often wears blue jeans and simple shirts, enjoys wearing cotton coats and scarves in the colder months.

Personality

Her mood tends to change rapidly and with little warning, especially during her time on earth, but aside from that she tends to be closed off, always acting like she understands everything, while at the same time willing to openly state that there are mysterious that she simply cannot fathom. She comes across as strange, introverted, and most likely hypocritical.

In Accordance with the Standard Eatharyian Disposition: Myxuki is highly curious and tends to desire control and knowledge over her environment, although not to an extreme degree.

Stubborn: Though often in a passive sort of way.

Hypocrisy: This trait is often expressed in excess in eatharyians, but is seen in even more abundance in Myxuki.

Fondness for Philosophy: Finds interest in exploring the unanswerable and the fascination with such concepts.

Belief System and PhilosophyHolds a belief in mathematical harmony. Individuals create their own meaning in life. There is no meaning to existence aside from the meaning that an individual devises; a contradictory view, and ultimately, it doesn't really matter much in the end. But that pessimism doesn't last long, because it doesn't matter that there is no meaning in existence. [Umm, this became eerily similar to Jenni, just with a potential positive twist.] Promotes optimism in spite of the undeniably pessimistic nature of existence, noting it as a display of the beauty of sentience.

Voice and Dialogue

Tends to talk down to others with an almost arrogant confidence, or speak in a distant tone as if addressing some far-off listener or speaking to herself. Even when raising her voice she never manages to be too loud.

Habits

  • Not taking medicine when she totally should.

Hobbies

  • Gardening.
  • Art; though not especially skilled, she is fond of doodling mathematically notable things like fractals and Fibonacci spirals, especially on her walls and free space on any written work.
  • Music; She plays the piano fairly well and is especially fond of jazz and swing. She occasionally attempts to compose her own pieces, but more often than not prefers to play something that she is at least mostly familiar with.

Likes

  • Slightly sweet coffee, lattes, and hot tea; usually black teas with some milk added in.
  • Watching sports; she appreciates the effort involved in perfecting one's skills.

Dislikes

  • Decaffeinated coffee and tea, despite the fact that she often partakes in both.
  • Irredeemably stupid people.
  • Small talk.
  • Nosy telepaths.
  • Having her 'merit' as a person judged by irrelevant factors, such as her age or gender; being referred to as 'child.'

Goals

  • Have goals in life.

Stats

In Accordance with the Abilities of All Eatharyians: Myxuki is naturally mentally and physically enduring, able to maintain functionality despite various stressors beyond the point where a typical human would fail. She also has a slight advantage when it comes to pattern recognition, pseudo-multitasking, and general resourcefulness.

Blood Disease: Anemic, blood doesn't clot easily. Lovely combination, that.

The condition I forgot the name of: Like bipolar personality disorder, but less severe.

Skills

Music, Art, and Gardening: Information

Knowledge

Understanding of Mathematics: "Technology is basically nature that we taught to do cool tricks" and mathematics is at the very root of it all.

Understanding of Sleight of Hand Tricks: She can't perform them herself, but she does know how they work- and how to spot the trick- thanks to Lylith.

Tsoras: Myxuki is aware of Tsoras's universe-balancing position in existence.

Notable Possessions

Tablet: Information

Watch: Does tablet-y things too.

Usual Inventory

Myxuki tends to summon her possessions.

Story

Overview

As a child she wanted to follow her mother's path and become a sports star, but she soon found limitations in her skills. Time and the influence of others gradually swayed her away from that dream, but even still she appreciates the dedication necessary in playing sports. She ended up getting interested in mathematics and an odd branch of physics, which lead to her eventual work on the mechanics of functional time travel.

Background

Myxuki was born and raised in [The main city,] on her people's home world. It was an influential place, well known for it's academic centers and those who arose from them, but at first none of this influenced Myxuki. Her mother was her greatest role model, a notable star in one athletic sport or another, but Myxuki soon found her skill and attention lacking for such a path; it was the first time she got a big dose of reality, andf that progression in life wouldn't be as easy as following in someone's footsteps, and it didn't help that she started with a poor hand. She was burdened by flukes in her genetics, a mild form of bipolar disorder, and a potentially life threatening bvlood desise. But these were the eatharyians, curiosity in time would lead to improvement in all things, and improvement was had- but not a cure, and not out of the inability to do so. No permanent alterations, that was her family's controversial belief, initially born out of remnants of religion that still linger in society. besides, the conditions could be handled well enough without major alterations. Medications, therapy, and simple understanding of what ailed her was more than enough. So, no permanent change. Except, of course, those necessary to utilize artificial telepathy and function optimally in society. Even later in life Myxuki seemed to respect this decision that was made for her, though the reasons are never well explained. Perhaps she doesn't even know.

The eatharyian education was well optimized for their curious nature, allowing each individual to attain a focus on things that interest them specifically, and in time, Myxuki's interest became math. Every other discipline lead back to it, and it was even theorized by some that if one attained a perfect understanding of the mathematics which govern the universe, one could in turn govern, the universe. It fascinated her. And her quick and thorough understanding of it fascinated her teachers, who supported the behavior and gave her the means to learn more. Enrolled in higher education, she began work on the theoretical application of physics using her understanding of mathematics, as the function of the universe had always fascinated her. She was well regarded as an expert, a prodigy even, in her field, and at such a young age, no less with so much room to improve. But to be an expert in something wasn't so difficult in their society. Making history, was.

One night, left to her own devices and fueled by manic inspiration, Myxuki once again took up the greatest mathematical challenge of her time; the problem of functional time travel, of spacial-temporal relocation. To manipulate time was one thing, but to traverse it... no one had quite put all the pieces together. Until this fateful night, where a single college student unified the ideas of generations under a single theory. In no more than a month her paper was written, reviewed, and the powers that be were already sifting through their ideas of what to do next. The possibilities were staggering, and fueled by their endless curiosity  and optimism, the eatharyian people took her idea and ran with it.

It took little time at all before they had a device that could put Myxuki's concepts into practice. And eager to prove their worth, it was tested. And this shit worked. Time travel. They had time travel! This single step lead to endless others, of improvement, of ideas on implementation, of everyone wanting to involve themselves in the making of history. But no idea left such an impact as the proposed [Final Project].

The project proposed a means of instilling life in their barren galaxy. After all, if the eatharyian people can't find life on their own... why not enable it? create it, even, if they must! With time and space and biology and physics under their control, they could decide the fate of the universe itself. With endless ambition, there was no time to ask 'But should we?' they got right to work. And Myxuki was at the forefront of this project, as the one who started it all. As a sign of gratitude, a s reward, or as a publicity stunt, they kept her involved. She happily mingled with those taking on the task, all while wondering what more she could possibly discover, if anything at all. Could anyone really top time travel? SHOULD anyone try? It was during these years that she met some of her most influential friends and acquaintances and matured as a person, given galaxy-wide acclaim and praise, and by default, attention. People loved her, and she wasn't sure how to feel about that. Despite her achievements and intelligence, she had always been... a little off. Socialization wasn't her strong suit, and her shifting views and reclusive tendencies could make her difficult to speak to casually. Some manages to get past this, though. Tsoras befriended her not because of her achievements, but because she was interesting. Lylith tried to befriend everyone and ended up gaining her interest, and Xycrien stood up for Myxuki on more than one occasion, recognizing the mathematician's occasional adverse reaction to attention. People loved her, but only a few understood her.

World Ending Game

To celebrate [the final project] reaching an important milestone a semi-formal 'party' was to be held, during which there would be discussion on how things have progressed, how the future will go, lovely little speeches from a few important figured, and the bot that actually constituted a party; live music, food, and a means of important people chatting with one another. It was fairly exclusive, there was plenty of media coverage, and naturally, Myxuki was invited. She was allowed to bring a guest, and so invited Tsoras- not that Tsoras actually needed an invitation. The get together went well, all according to plan, though Tsoras had to leave early which forced Myxuki to interact with others, or not interact at all. Tsoras stated she was looking for something, and whatever it was, it was of the 'universe-level' variety. Seemed important.

At some point a journalist who has no buisness being here, was allowed in by Tyriis, a security officer that was unofficially Myxuki's babysitter. Myxuki never got the journalist's name, but he spoke directly to her. He seemed desperate, distressed, driven by what seemed like madness. He spoke of the end of the world, of space-time fracturing, something about crystals, about someone needing to do something... He was quickly escorted out by Vyrnix, and presumably arrested until he could be calmed down. Tyriis was sent home immediately, leaving Myxuki naturally confused. It was odd, for sure, and she hoped he got whatever help he needed. Assuming it wasn't simply an attempt at gaining attention by disrupting the event. The end of the world... it was interesting to think about. the eatharyians feared little anymore. If anything, they should fear what they were capable of more than father nature, given their understanding and manipulation of it. Simply put, the end of the world wasn't much of a concept for them. They had long grown pout of trying to predict it, understanding well that they can easily prevent it.

Perhaps she should have listned to the ravings of a mad man. But who could blame her for dismissing him? At first it was little things, not adding up. Small errors. But small errors in the coding of the universe gradually began to snowball out of control. It didn't go unnoticed of course, and Tsoras brought to Myxuki a desperate warning; things were going to get worse, and she was going to stop it. A single impossible task in exchange for the aethyll being's life, one 'get out of jail free' card for the people she came to love. What exactly was happening?? This greater threat competently nullified the mystery Myxuki, Lylith, and Xycrien had gotten themselves caught up in regarding a lost child.

Tsoras returned to Myxuki and Lylith, who were still scrambling fruitlessly to do or learn anything. Tsoras couldn't do anything. An impossible task, though? Could the impossible not counter the equally impossible? But she wouldn't give up. "I have to be able to save something!" Her ideas coincided with theirs, and an unsolved mystery. They had a mathematician who understood time travel, an expert in memory alteration, a biologist assigned to a particular future planet, and a blank slate. And, of course, the 'impossible' at Tsoras's beck and call. Was this a good plan? No. Hell no. But once determined that their mystery child's fate could be entangled, determined, and made finite in some regard with the future of the universe, they out their plan into action. Embed the secret to time travel in his memory, coordinates to this time and place, whatever scraps of the quantification of the madness occurring here and now they could craft, and essentially, a how-to guide to return here. If anyone figured out how to fix this. How to prevent it. If another impossible task by whoever Tsoras was supposed to become could do the trick, or if some other eatharyian's fate could be interwoven, and they are given the means and the time, and now the information, perhaps they could save them. Or, at the very least, unravel the mystery that was occurring before them.

Myxuki did not intend on having Tsoras waste her resources and time trying to change her fate. But the aethyll being did so anyway, in spite of the low odds of success. It seemed random, which ties could be made in the far future. She couldn't be sure which ones would even work given the fickle nature of existence. But she still tried to save Myxuki.  If anyone deserved a second chance, and a shot at changing what was occurring, it should be the mathematician who altered the course of the universe's very history.

Through Tsoras's warping of fate, Myxuki had been spared, destined to be a quiet influence, forgotten by most, but unforgettable to some.

Earth

Myxuki is quick to encounter Lylith, who had arrived first chronologically speaking. He had made friends with a whole host of people, including the universe itself, and had even found their mystery child; now a young man named Derek who also somehow befriended the universe. Seeing as Lylith still had the means of manipulation memory, teaching someone English was ion the realm of possibilities, and a great way to cheat. Myxuki would take up on the offer, simply to understand what was even going on. Not that it helped. Kito had no idea what happened to the eatharyian people, only that it upset him greatly. Turns out he quite liked 'em. But, humans are pretty great too, if you give them a chance, he informs. Although aimless, Myxuki tries.

In time she gets involved with Soulska Valget, likely at first through Derek or Lylith. She finds the universe hoping elf fascinating, and he in turn finds her of interest. Shenanigans, Myxuki keeps Souslka from murdering Lylith after Lylith is a bastard and gets involved with the plan to fuck over Cardio's branch of the secret government (Lylith looses a finger here.)

She stays with the Valgets instead of KIba's folks. Cyris shows up and tried to kill her, but the Valgets aren't having that. There's the incident with Yuri. Ue'lara comes to view Myxuki as something of a mentor, but Myxuki is never sure of why, exactly, she's so well liked by the girl. She and Soulska manage to get to Hyenzei, where she leaves several messages, authorizes Soulska as a guest of hers, and gives Soulska interest in the VI and location. An adventure led along by a magic eight ball and a kindly mechanic rekindle Myxuki's spirits, and she joins a small band just for fun, among gaining other hobbies, and trying to be better and less aimless. In time, she does manage to be happy again.

Her death was unexpected. Simply an accident, or ill fortune, or seemingly nothing at all. Whatever it was involved the condition that had plagued her since birth, something she refused to ever cure. She probably wouldn't be surprised over her own death. Maybe not even sad, simply reflective, and cryptic, as she always had been. Soulska buried her in Hyenzei's garden, which the pair has restored over time, with a small cherry blossom. She had stated time and time again that she didn't care what was done to her upon death, so Souslka chose for her, taking on an eatharyian tradition. But, why a cherry blossom? It represented so much that contradicted her; fertility, beauty, femininity.... it was contradictory. Much like Myxukji herself.

Quotes and Excerpts

”Sorry Soulska, but... I've done enough damage, enough puppetting. we need to stop, and let the Universe take its own course, for better or for worse. I’m...I’m sick and tired of this outside foolery, though it may just be unavoidable. It isn’t just Earth, it may have very well be us, but something needs done. The cycle needs to end one way or another...If any of that made sense to anyone aside from myself.” -Myxuki, during the old Dream Ending Dev Google document.
