Here Comes the BOI

Grasshopper is a young Rowlet who joined Ann's team after a shaky past. He's shy and soft-spoken, and he worries that the team may someday surpass his skill, leaving him behind. Thankfully, these fears are all in his head, and Grasshopper is well-liked by all of his teammates. He's been able to find some stability during Ann's journey across Alola, helping to manage his anxiety and come to terms with who he is.

Bramble

Early on during his adventure with the team, it became apparant that something odd was going on with Grasshopper. It was almost as if, when he participated in trainer battles, he wasn't quite... himself. Which, as it turns out, was technically true! Grasshopper learned that he had an alter, Bramble, who developed at some point when Grasshopper was young. Although Bramble is usually only around during battles or other high-stakes situations, he's started to surface a bit more often, now that Grasshopper is more accepting of him.

Past

Before Grasshopper met Ann, he was owned by a cruel and abusive trainer who belittled and terrified the young Rowlet. Although this mystery trainer is long gone, many of Grasshopper's current fears and anxieties can be traced back to his poor treatment at the hands of his previous trainer. Thanks to Violet and Bramble, though, he's slowly learning to come to terms with his past, and recover from it.
