Mao Akuma

Background

 A seventeen year old male, rank A Devil Hunter. Code named "Nightmare", Mao became an orphan at the age of six when his home town was destroyed by a dimensional rift known as a "Devil Gate".  Rescued by hunters who had arrived to eliminate Devils that made their way through the gate, Mao was taken in by the Hunters Organization, he would then begin his training to become a Devil Hunter after seeing that a deep, flame of hatred towards the Devils had been ignited; most would be forever scarred with trauma in this sort of situation. Mao acquired his powers through the ceremony of binding and adapted to them much faster than any other in the history of the organization, thus allowing him to rise in rank very quickly. Now armed with the power and skill to defeat Devils, Mao uses his anger and self sense of justice to protect the innocent from the Devils. Mao currently moonlights as a third year delinquent student at Shojinku high school.

Personality

 Extremely aggressive and intense to a fault, many have a hard time approaching Mao due to him being seen as intimidating; this is all to keep Mao focused and ready to fight a Devil at any instant and not as a mean to repel others. Due to his lack of social skill,  Mao often struggles to communicate with others; especially with females, whom he often gets flustered around and usually results in something unintentionally comical. During battle, Mao comes off as being hot headed, arrogant and reckless, but due to the way his Devil Essence has manifested and they way he developed his fighting skills, this is all too understandable especially when regards to his record of success; he has been known to take down even S rank Devils and rogue hunters on his own.

Appearance

 Roughly standing at about 6' 2" and weighing in at about 220 lbs, Mao has a fairly muscular and solid build that has several scars that cover his slightly tanned skin that are a testimony of his serious training and over reliance of his Devil Essence; some have mistaken this for suicidal tendencies. Mao's hair is described as being wild, sharp and black as obsidian while his eyes are intense and coloured to look like an intense flame. Mao's preference in attire that is something that is less restricting and reflects his rebellious, intense nature; consisting of lots leather belts, bracers and collars. His left ear is lined with hoop earrings.

Devil Essence

 Mao's Devil Essence is known as Cursed Blood. This power revolves around blood, either in it's entirety or elements within the blood such as iron or hemoglobin and isn't limited to his own; however it must be external blood for him to gain control. Examples of Mao's blood mastery is his ability to manipulate the iron to harden the blood into weapons, armor or tools that are nearly indestructible and his ability to instantly cause clotting by manipulating the flow; the potency is dependent on the quality and quantity of the blood. A passive effect of Mao's Devil Essence makes him immune to blood loss and blood related illnesses/diseases while also granting him the ability to freely change his blood type. When Mao's Sin Mode is activated, his eyes glow red and he gains the ability to rupture his blood cells to allow gallons of blood to flow freely granting a massive amount of blood for performing far more advanced techniques.

Devil Arm

 Mao's Devil Arm is known as Crimson Bane and manifests itself as a great sword style weapon that is nearly as long as he is tall and as wide as he is broad. The blade itself is made of nigh indestructible condensed blood that is capable of cutting through flesh and bone flawlessly causing massive , lethal bleeding. Projectiles can be formed from splintered shards of the blade that can be launched at a high velocity with a single swing to hit distant enemies. By focusing his mind, Mao can draw in fresh blood from wounded enemies to either increase the size of Mao's Devil Arm or to be gathered into a larger projectile.   

Five Point Trivia

1.Mao is extremely talented, especially when it comes to playing the guitar, cooking and above all else, martial arts; he is believed to be a prodigy due to his mastery of six martial arts over the last ten years (Karate, kung-fu, taekwondo, jiu-jitsu, muay thai and kendo).

2.Has a pet horned lizard named Dante.

3.Hates horror films but enjoys comedies believes he sees enough horror on a day to day basis.
