Kami's Links
A curious (and probably questionable) series of events brought Kami and Lucy together; Kami had originally been tasked by his masters to steal away the young inventress and bring her to Orre in an attempt to ‘persuade’ her father to continue working on weaponry for them. While the extradition was successful, it was still a long journey from Hoenn to Orre in which the two learnt more about each other. Now back in Orre, Kami makes it his job to visit Lucy every day, partly out of guilt and partly because of a desire to be around her. He wishes that he had never finished bringing her to Orre but he is glad that he found her. He struggles with the more nuanced aspects of their relationship as he’s never really felt serious about anyone before
Lucy ran into Kami by chance, as he was hiding away from his captors. She offered him some shelter, and he just seemed to keep coming back. Kami's animalistic tendencies both endear and annoy Lucy toward him, mostly the dirt that he is always tracking in. She wants to see him have full freedom from his captors and angers to see him bossed around or punished. They are able to send small electric shocks/stimulations to each other to communicate, for her this is the best way to find out what he's really thinking and feeling.
Kami and Arc have a strange relationship; while Arc is a representative of the people who keep Kami in involuntary servitude and has undoubtedly profited from it, he has never had the same attitude as the rest of his family when dealing with Kami. Kami takes this as a sign that he is one of the few people that Arc likes and allows his more jovial and silly nature to come through. This is mostly an attempt to cheer Arc up, as Kami actually feels sorry for him.
Arc and Kami have known each other for a long time and, as much as he would hate to admit it, Kami is one of the very few people who know what Arc is really like having seen him at his highest highs and lowest lows. It doesn’t mean that the two are best buddies however, as Arc finds Kami incredibly annoying, especially his overly energetic mannerisms and seeming lack of self control. He does have a smidgen of respect for Kami’s physical prowess though and his ability to come out of even the most perilous situations unscathed.
Kami considers Iestyn his great rival and the one thief that has always just managed to slip out of his grasp time and time again. While he doesn’t agree with most of the things his employers command him to do, if any mission is given to him that involves the chance to catch up to or throw a spanner into Iestyn’s plans/works, Kami always participates with great gusto. He considers it a mark against his abilities that Iestyn is still out there free instead of locked up behind bars.
Kami and Iestyn have always been at logger heads ever since they met, though that might be something to do with the fact that Kami’s job is to catch thieves like Iestyn and bring them to justice… or just to his boss. Iestyn thinks Kami is an incompetent but annoyingly persistent lizard who is always showing up at the most inconvenient time, usually when he’s trying to pull off a heist. However, since he has yet to be caught, he thinks of him more of an irritant than an actual threat.
Leura and Kami are half-siblings through their father, though there is no sense of closeness and barely the hint of a bond between the two. At best the relationship could be described as strained and at worst outright hostile. It also probably doesn’t help that they each took completely different paths in life; Kami choosing to hunt down criminals while Leura became one, specialising in thievery. Kami is the older of the two and for most of his life was unaware of her existence until she came tumbling into it as a tumultuous teenager. He finds Leura irritating, displaying the worst traits found in lizard/dragon kind with her arrogance and entitlement and often ends up (unwittingly) entangled in her schemes which he then must bail her out of.
