D-SEC, Freedom...it's all pointless. Oh, but you don't care about that so long as you win, right?
Born in one of the few, small villages that remain in the wastes, Nova has never known the comfort and security that those who live in Invidia's cities do, and - like his fellow townsfolk - grew up to be quite jaded against D-SEC's sheltered lifestyle. When he was still only a teen, he decided to leave his village, branding himself with a large 'X' on his left shoulder - a wasteland tradition to mark those who no longer belong to any one group of people. Despite not having an ID or other means of seamlessly getting into the cities, Nova found ways to go in and out as he pleased, and now makes a living earning credits doing mercenary work for those left who are in need of his services.
Nova is a facetious and snarky man who lives his life with little regard for others. He has always been independent and thinks little of both D-SEC and Freedom, thinking their goals and lifestyles to be naive and foolish, which is his opinion of most other people he meets. He's witty and enjoys purposefully saying things to get under other people's skin, especially if it is in an attempt at making them understand their own foolishness, and is rarely bothered by similar insults towards him.
Nova is absent for much of Time of Death's story, but his late appearance marks a turning point in the plot and is important for Shire's development especially.
He is an individual who constantly picks apart the people around him and can see into the cynical truth of the world that most Invidians cannot. His ability to plant doubt into others through words alone will be noteworthy from his appearance onward.
Selby Landvik
[ temporary employer ]
Although Nova loathes D-SEC, he's not above doing work for them under the radar so long as he gets paid appropriately. Selby hires Nova to do dirty work in his stead, and Nova obliges.
Raven Donos
[ a pest ]
Raven's sense of justice leads him to clash with Nova out of principle; in fact, Raven goes so far as to want Nova dead. Nova thinks of the whole thing as being a pain, but it offers some amusement, at least.
Shire Dynatius
[ someone to test ]
Upon joining Freedom, Nova instantly finds himself intrigued by D-SEC's runaway "princess". He starts to mess with her head, as a means of entertaining himself as well as to see just how far her devotion will carry her.
