General Description

Mary is a very enthusiastic person. She loves reading and learning about the world, especially about anything related to biology - and all the different lifeforms on earth. She’s got a big heart and big dreams. She would love doing anything related to biology, really. But deep down she would love to help people.

She is rather on the quiet side and keeps to herself, not really one to strike up conversations with strangers unless she needs to ask for directions… but as soon as she starts talking about her interests (which is… literally anything relating to biological life), she can go on and on for hours on end. Anything related to uncommon species and traits, experiments, microorganism, et cetera makes her heart beat faster. It’s her passion.

Additionally, she is a total mom friend. She always wants to help everyone she meets, and cares about them deeply. She seems to have endless kindness and love stored in her heart. She will always try to listen to her friends’ problems, even when she’s tired and exhausted from studying… although she may accidentally fall asleep in that case… Without ill intent, of course.

She has very small angel wings, which she hides by tucking them into the back of form-fitting shirts underneath her clothes. While winged creatures and people are not totally unheard of, people finding out about those would put her into an awkward position, as she can't exactly tell people about her angel half.
Her wings are too small to fly, so she mostly views them as a hassle. However, they can practically explode into a huge wingspan, during which they can be used as a shield (or well, to fly) but it's not something she can conciously control - so far it has only happened in very dire situations/during huge emotional breakdowns.

Interests and Hobbies

- reading and studying everything that falls into her hands, but especially everything relating to biology and medicine
- dancing ballet
- tends to pull all-nighters as soon as she starts working on projects, she always tries to finish things way ahead of time, but often fails miserably since she tends to run into mental roadblocks quickly and easily gets distracted by small details
=> thankfully, she always gets things done, but sometimes she cuts it quite close with a deadline
=> when she's done, she usually ends up being so sleep deprived that she will just babble nonsense and collapse onto her own bed, Daniel's bed or the couch downstairs (Daniel thinks she's hilarious in that state)
- getting super excited about biology stuff

- likes to listen to calm instrumental music but also music that's currently playing on the radio
- likes humming along to songs while organizing her school utensils
- certified mom friend - her friends will usually ask her for advice and she loves helping them

Relationships to other Characters

Daniel is her roommate and good friend. She loves him like a brother and constantly worries about him. She gives him advice whenever he starts overthinking. And she also keeps trying to encourage him to get out of his comfort zone, but Daniel can be one stubborn guy.
Antonio is her best friend and study buddy. He’s great at lifting her mood and getting her to talk about her interests. They talk about all kinds of things and problems and got each other's back. They also study together often, even though they study for different things, they both appreciate being able to hang out and study in silence).
Cat and Mary are friends. Both have a strong desire to help everyone they meet, so they get along quite well.

Basic Backstory

Mary hasn't seen her father in a long time, but he's the one she can blame for her little wings. Her parents met via a lucky coincidence - Mary's mother being a person who can see things beyond the physical realm around her, she witnessed Mary's father tumbling down from the sky, falling right into their world and crashing into the ground with full force. A lot of shenanigans ensued, and eventually the both of them fell in love. Mary was the result; and as her mom liked to say to her then-husband: "thank god she doesn't have ALL of your eyes".
Mary mostly grew up with her mom, as her dad was sadly forced to get out of the picture at some point, and Mary feels some mix of sadness and resentment for him, since she mostly knows about him from her mother's retellings. Her stories don't paint him in a bad light, but Mary has conflicting feeligns about him leaving them behind and only making her life harder (including the angel features she inherited from him).

Design Notes

- her glasses are optional
- her wings are TYPICALLY hidden - she always has them, but hides them under her clothes if she's out in public. She ONLY has them out when she's inside of her room and the doors are locked.
