General Description

Daniel is a shy, introverted vampire guy who tends to avoid people and all kinds of conflicts. He's rather uncomfortable around strangers, not very talkative and fairly closed-off. He's often held back by his own self-consciousness and overthinking, so he doesn't express his emotions very well and gets lonely very easily.
His anxiety and depression make him feel like a nervous useless mess most of the time, and his sleeping problems don't really help with any of that.
To outsiders he will seem distant, sad and nervous most of the time... but deep down he's a sweetheart who just really loves his friends and craves sooo much affection. He just means well and doesn't want to hurt or disappoint anyone. (He's so soft. Such a soft nerd.)

Interests and Hobbies

- writer, huge bookworm, loves reading and writing a lot (despite his frequent writers block and low energy levels)
- has a tendency to daydream about his stories, poems, and ideas, during which he often stares at nothing in particular, with a melancholic look on his face
- loves literature (German and English classics, Gothic Literature, lighthearted romance, fantasy => also has a particular fascination with Kafka's work)
- only likes video games if they have a good story line, or if he can play them together with his friends
- prefers reading books over watching movies => likes character-driven stories, HATES bad and/or unnecessary romance subplots (has a soft spot for Mad Max: Fury Road or action movies similar to it)
- romance stories are his guilty pleasure, he enjoys them a lot, but sometimes they put him into a rather melancholic mood
- his fave animals are cats

Relationships to other Characters

Cat is his best friend and usually teases him with silly nicknames (including "Double D" and "Sunny D"). But otherwise, she is always there for him when he needs a shoulder to lean and cry on.
Antonio is his (future) boyfriend and never fails to make him laugh or blush. He loves hitting on Daniel with cheesy pickup lines... And both love overanalysing stories together (although Antonio prefers movies over books). They often hang out and play video games/watch movies/read together.
Mary is his roommate and trusted Mom Friend. He'd be lost without her advice and encouraging words, always trying to get him out of his shell.
Gabriel is the person who turned Daniel into a vampire... and his overly controlling ex boyfriend. Daniel hasn't seen him since they broke up, but he still has nightmares about going back to Gabriel.
AU SHIP (with @GheySnakeRetracted's OC): Alex and him are AU boyfriends - they're just sweet nerds with similar problems (who both have shitty ex-partners). Both are on the shy side so it took them a while to become a couple, but once these awkward idiots managed to confess, they just became extra sweet and good for each other. They both have their insecurities, but they also help each other through the rougher moments. Both have problems with sleep (aka they just never fucking SLEEP), but once on of them gets really tired, they often manage to get the other to go to bed and get some rest, as well.

Design Notes

He's very pale and (almost always) has dark circles under his eyes - his hair is dyed black, I just use the dark (blue-ish) grey gradient because it works well with my style (you can totally do it differently if you've got another way of drawing black hair, I don't mind!)
His hair is pretty straight but also always a little messy, it always has a slightly fluffy quality to it
