Abel's parents were only together for a few years before divorcing early on in their childhood. Though their father continued to support them financially, Abel never really got to meet the man in person. Despite this, Abel's childhood was considerably average. They were a well-mannered child, according to their mother, so problems were sparce. In school Abel never really seemed to do more than what was required of them, though in high school Abel was known to write papers for other students for pay. By the time they started attending university, they still didn't really have an idea of what they wanted to do with their life. Towards the end of their first semester one of Abel's professors approached them about their writing after noticing an oddly similar pattern of writing among a few of her students. Though they were reprimanded for their actions, she did not bring the issue to the dean and in exchange Abel would participate in their university's writing tutoring services. Abel never mentions the little details but some time between now and then they decided on becoming an English major which would eventually lead to their career in editing.
