Personality

Traits- Friendly, considerate, hospitable, rebellious, skittish, sensitive, unhappy.

Ukraine mostly appears to be a skittish dog that can often be seen forcing a smile. He is easily startled, usually flinching when there's a loud noise or something moves toward him too quickly. However, this does not mean that he isn't brave. His bravery is shown elsewhere but most notably in his determination and unwillingness to be a pushover. He has no issue standing up for himself and making it known that he won't be pushed around so easily. He doesn't do this out of stubbornness, but for his own self worth since he knows he deserves better. To others, Ukraine is a friendly dog. He cares a lot about the well-being of others and takes the time to show kindness to them especially those who Ukraine feels deserves it. He has a big heart and finds it hard to hurt others feelings however he's learned throughout the years that he has to once in a while for his own mental health. He still feels a little guilty about it but he can rest easily knowing he did the right thing for himself. Despite his friendly nature, Ukraine is very unhappy. He tries his best to relax and enjoy the smaller things in life and look on the brighter side of every negative situation however, it isn't that easy. He just wants to focus on himself but with such a stressful job he doesn't have much time to and is forced to constantly ponder on his past, present, and future. He doesn't enjoy thinking about his past or his relationships with others, especially his family. But his job relies on that so its unavoidable. Ukraine still attempts to make baby steps to become a happier person but unfortunately he is still struggling.

Appearance

Ukraine is a Bucovina Shepherd standing at 5'11" (180.3 cm). He is a strong dog and has a fair amount of muscle. Since he has long thick fur he appears even bigger than he actual is. His face is mostly black with a few white accents on his snout, forehead, eyebrows, and under his eyes. The rest of his body is completely white except his tail which has black on the top side and white underneath. His tail is fluffy like the rest of his body and long, reaching down to his calves. His eyes are yellow and he can usually be seen with a worried smile. 

For his clothing, he can usually be seen wearing a sky blue button up with an embroidered sunflower on the left breast pocket. He usually keeps the sleeves rolled up above his elbow and the bottom tucked into his pants. He pairs this with gray pants that are held up by a black belt. His pants are worn and have patches of different color fabric sewn onto them to cover the holes. And finally, for footwear, he wears a pair of black boots.

Relationships

Russia is Ukraine's younger brother. They took care of each other when they were kids although in present day their relationship is rocky. Ukraine refuses to talk to Russia or acknowledge his presence if they somehow end up in the same room together. Ukraine doesn't even want to mention his name or talk about him as it makes him uncomfortable.

Belarus is Ukraine's younger sister. They don't interact that often anymore. Ukraine struggles to respect Belarus since he doesn't think she has any dignity but he keeps that to himself. They do somewhat get along when together, however, their interactions are pretty awkward since neither of them are pretty talkative and they don't have much to talk about in the first place.

Canada was the first country to recognize Ukraine's independence and they've been good friends ever since. They only hang out when the both of them are at the meeting building which is pretty rare but they are still friendly with each other and get along well.

Trivia

● Has a wooden pysanka collection. Pysankas are Ukrainian easter eggs that are decorated with Ukrainian folk designs using wax. Traditionally, they are made with actual chicken eggs however, Ukraine likes the wooden ones for longevity and decoration. They are meant to bring a good harvest in the new season which is a bonus for Ukraine. He is pretty superstitious so keeping them around makes him more at ease. He has plenty in his collection, most of which he has made himself however, there are a few that are made by others.

● Loves crafts. He just likes to use his hands to make things that he can keep for a purpose or decoration. He finds it relaxing and entertaining. It can also save him money which is always a good thing in his eyes. He mostly enjoys working with fabric and doing embroidery. 

● Lives on a wheat and sunflower farm on the countryside. Ukraine is the breadbasket of Europe and has a huge export of wheat and sunflowers. He enjoys spending his time caring for his crops. His sunflowers especially bring him a lot of happiness. They are the national flower and represent warmth to him so he really loves keeping them around and caring for them. 

● Doesn't leave his country often. Taking care of his farm takes a lot of time and traveling for his job would eat up a lot of the time he could be spending taking care of his plants or working on himself. He just wants to relax and the stress of the meeting building dramas just isn't worth it to him. He still does his job and goes when he absolutely has to but he would rather do most of that work from home.
