Emperor of the Sands, Son of Heaven, Savior of Humanity, Your Majesty, Your Highness… 

They gave him so many names, and yet not a one would call him “Lorian”…

He is above the rest, greater than the masses, this is the role which he was born to fill… their savior, their pariah, their hero. And failure is not an option. There is no time for him to feel as they do, there is no time to pity what has been lost, once the threat of the Endless Night is defeated then and only then can he rest…

That was Lorian’s entire existence, until he met a pair of mysterious travelers from a far off land. How odd, he thought, a place I’ve never heard of? Isn’t it the emperor’s duty to know everything? And that was only the beginning of the curiosities about them.

This pair were unafraid to meet his eye, they didn’t bow their heads or kneel in respect. They used his name, without fear of being smited by some unseen force. They laughed with him… rather then in an attempt to please him… And he wanted them to stay. He wanted to learn more about friendship.

In the end, Vesi and Otto saved him in more ways than one. He is indebted to them, for opening his eyes as to the misguided loyalties of his advisors and the true evil nature of his draconic mother. 

For now, only one thing is certain. If the end of the world approaches, he will not be facing it alone.
