Lulo's father, Merleth, hailed from the Tenebris Saeculorum Rift, after accidentally stumbling upon a gateway leading to the modern world. He would later meet an earth-born siren, U'lala, who showed him around the Earth's oceans. Eventually, they fell in love with each other and later had Lulo, their first and only child.
The family often travelled several miles away from home on a daily basis. Eventually however, food shortages forced them to migrate to other parts of the ocean. Lulo later met Percy when they were each about six and five years old. They bonded over their unusual backgrounds and met at the beach weekly. Lulo soon fell in love with Percy, and though Percy felt the same, they were too timid to admit their true feelings.
About a month after his twelfth birthday, Lulo vanished and was never to be seen again. Percy has mourned his disappearance, and it has been several months since the incident. Lulo's current whereabouts are unknown.

Though timid at first, it's easy to coax Lulo out of his shell--he is extroverted, extremely playful, and energetic, the foil to his best friend Percy. However, he tends to be short-tempered or quick to impatience when he doesn't get what he wants or is disappointed with an outcome. Despite his flaws, Lulo maintains a positive outlook, but sometimes to the point where his head is often in the clouds. Though he is as playful as a dolphin or a seal would be, he is sometimes reckless when playing with other land-dwellers, which often leads to them nearly being drowned or hurt in some way.
