Pierce is a serious and closed-off feline who prioritizes getting a job done at any cost. Pierce was raised by his two siblings after their village was attacked and their parents were killed. His siblings were much older than him and already had established jobs as travelers, and decided to teach Pierce the same skills. Pierce didn't particularly like the work and acted like a brat in most situations, but followed his siblings anyway. Pierce and his siblings would do various jobs around the different sectors and weren't picky about the jobs they took. Sometimes they would deliver mail, help villages during harvests, or act as guards to non-ranking officials. After Pierce’s siblings dealt with a job gone wrong with a high-ranking church official, they were killed by angels and left Pierce all alone. Pierce wanted to seek revenge on the angel that killed his siblings, so he sought out Blaze in hopes he could kill them. Blaze was successful, but didn't cash in on his favor initially, instead opting to use it at a later time. Pierce went on his own after this to continue his sibling's work in their honor. Due to the nature of his work, he has traveled all across the different sectors and has connections with all different types of powerful individuals.

He's the last to join Riptide’s group and acts as the navigator to the group, bringing them to different locations to find people willing to help them. He tries to keep the group on task and get them to move as quickly as possible, but the rest of them are so inexperienced with travel that Pierce has to slow down for them. He’s proficient in fire magic and acts as Cinders’ teacher throughout the story. He and Cinders frequently buttheads over decisions made within the group. Frostbite is polite to Pierce and works with him to improve the durability of her ice magic against fire mages. Pierce is perplexed by Riptide and their tendency to stick close to him, but slowly grows attached to the angel over the course of the story.
