Independence . Strength

R3PU2dr.png

A man loathes his past and his younger self. Yet he still clings to it as he believes it makes him stronger. Rarely a single cut on his body shows despite how well he exposes it, but the amount of mental scars still aches him even when he has been physically healed. Though scared, Hyde kept pursuing danger as if he didn't even care a single bit about dying - he was brash and careless. He was always in trouble and never cared for love.
Until he felt as if he was truly saved by her, a kind angel that he would bend his knee to so willingly. He thought with her existence he could be able to pursue his dreams of being unstoppable, in his own way.

Now he betrayed her, and Hyde couldn't help but be shameful with his actions. He separates himself from her and their friends, now pursuing his ambitions by himself without help from anyone. He refuses to call of help, even when he is the one who needs it the most.

Why, look you now, how unworthy a thing you make of me! You would play upon me. You would seem to know my stops. You would pluck out the heart of my mystery. You would sound me from my lowest note to the top of my compass. And there is much music, excellent voice, in this little organ, yet cannot you make it speak? 'Sblood, do you think I am easier to be played on than a pipe? Call me what instrument you will, though you can fret me, yet you cannot play upon me.
(Act I, Scene II)

Hyde's personality changes quite quickly; he's reserved only at most points where he's calm. Yet he is easily intimidated and likely hot blooded when he knows when it is time to play. Hyde is as defensive as he is offensive; he'll defend his friends and those that threaten him and his loved ones but putting harm on his own body isn't his first thought (in comparison to Nio). Usually Esmer is the man to strike first, and often uses this to show off the strength that his friends don't have. This large, broad man is a scary through his looks, especially his bleached dyed hair and mismatched contacts make him stand out easily - but he is no where mean nor crude. It's more likely for Hyde to do more generous deeds and feel sympathetic towards others.
His idea of doing everything himself may be a strength but it's actually his biggest flaw as a person overall. Esmer strictly prefers to work his own life individually; he only wants to do things himself without others helping him. He particularly dislikes those who try to spoil him and do things for him - he believes that he can take care of certain situations himself and care for others as well. Such beliefs make Hyde quite stubborn, as he still refuses to ask for help when he really needs it.

However, Hyde has a poetic side of things. Due to his parent's love of reading and play writing, Esmer is partially interested in classic literature - more importantly Shakespearean works. He doesn't really openly claim his interest, only to use it to surprise people while impressing them with a vast knowledge of something that is completely out of character. Sometimes he evens talks in script of certain play writes or just simply speaks in quotes from any piece of classic literature he read.

CHILDHOOD

"Just keep reading, Hamlet. Your father will be proud of you soon, I promise... He won't be mad at your any longer..."

- Mother

Hyde was born under the name of Hamlet, after one of Shakespearean works, along with seven other brothers who were named in a similar fashion. Since they were small children, they all knew of their father being a playwright and his obsession.

Though their father was present, their mother (along with the help of her sibling) raised them as properly as she could without the constant abuse from her own husband and their father. Whenever Hyde's mother was absent, it was likely that his father forced him and his brothers to the stage and practice perform for his own amusement. Especially as the age of 12, he already memorized several scripts and knew them word for word to satisfy his father - likely afraid of his father's wrath. And at that same age, the abuse ended soon after brothers discovered their mother committed suicide. The following day, his father had disappeared to run away from the public that discovered his cruelty.

TEENAGE LIFE

"What do you think is wrong with you? Nothing! You don't need a mother, or a father. You're perfectly fine the way you are: Strong, reliable, and you're super fun. What do you mean 'what's wrong with me?' I think you're so amazing, Hyde."

- Emery

No one except their mother's eldest brother was able to care for the eight children. Only able to take in four of the eight children, Hyde was one of the fortunate children to stay with their uncle. The other four had no choice but to be in foster homes until they were old enough to live on their own. His uncle was a busy man, though unsure of his occupation or lifestyle - he and his brother spent most of their time living in their uncle's house alone to care for themselves. Despite his uncle was willing to pay for food and other expenses, Hyde demanded that he'd find himself a job to pay for himself. At 16, Hyde decided that he'll go back to school to finish his education. Because of his situation and school was left on a pause during his time living with his uncle, he was held back for a whole year when he entered highschool.

He played around during his highschool years, especially with Regret. Only until he was introduced to Grettel's childhood friend that he began to completely shift his lifestyle around. He began to take his artistic interests seriously - he pursued painting, acting and even music as both his hobby and his career choice.

During high school, he believed his whole life revolved around his girlfriend, Emery. However, when they reached to their senior year, they drifted apart. Soon enough, Hyde had took a risky turn and slept with another individual and the partner from his one-night stand was pregnant with his child. Guilt and pain made him suffer and he needed to tell Emery and thankfully in the end, Emery was rather understandable and broke up soon after. Despite heartbroken, he watched Emery fall in love with another [man] after her 18th birthday. While Hyde, ended up focusing on graduating.

ADULTHOOD

"No one is walking this path by themselves, Hyde. I didn't get to where I was entirely because of my parents. I earned it myself in the end, but with that stubborn, bratty attitude of yours, Hyde... you're not going anywhere. And I'm here to help."

- Hans

When Hyde distanced himself from Emery - Hyde found out about her joining some secretive organization and Hyde didn't expect partaking in such things would put her in danger. But because of Hyde's newborn baby, Bella, he couldn't do anything but pray she was going to come home safe.

When Espada finally came home days after, she was guided by a large and reserved figure by the name of Hans. He was thankful for Johannes' help but it caught Hans's attention. He assumed that the lawyer was going to fly back to Germany, but instead he remained to stay in the same town to get to know Hyde more. His whole ordeal made Esmer feel somewhat uncomfortable, if not irritated, but he never pushed Hans away.

There were several instances where he hated Hans offering his help (whether it be physical support, his care, and his money) and almost every time he shut him down with them. Yet after all these years, Hans still continues to offer his help to Esmer and confessed that he had feelings for him. With the lawyer still on his back, he potentially opens himself up a bit more around him. And there are even days where Hans would be taking great care of Bella with Hyde by him, questioning whether he should commit to him.

TLDR

  • Hyde was born under the name Hamlet and his parents were obsessed with classical plays and playwriting. His father, however was abusive to him and his seven other brothers.
  • His mother committed suicide during his childhood and his father disappeared with no whereabouts. Hyde and some of his brothers had to live in their Uncles house.
  • Hyde had to stop going to school while living in his Uncle's home, but came back to highschool to finish his education. He met Emery, who became his girlfriend soon after.
  • Hyde slept with another women and she became pregnant with their child later. Hyde broke up with Emery because of this and he distanced himself from her and the rest of their friend circle to focus on his own life.
  • Met Johannes through Emery after he flew her back to her home (after being kidnapped). Johannes took interest in Hyde and wants him to depend on Hans.
