Mzatamo

 Mzatamo is, first and foremost, a skeptic. If it cannot be proved with physical proof, he doesn't want to hear it. When he first arrived at the pride, he was a bit more carefree and goofy, but after a series of weird dreams he never shared with anyone, he became much more serious and skeptical of what was offered to him. Though at times he is a bit too blunt, Mzatamo obviously cares about his pride mates. He wouldn't be the Healer of the pride if he didn't want to help them and care for them. However, he does grow exasperated with them and their belief in the pride's ancestors speaking to them. While he will attend ceremonies within the pride, he never participates, preferring to sit and observe. In actuality, Mzatamo would love to believe that the pride's beliefs are true. However, he simply cannot believe that they are correct in that belief when he dreamed night after night that he ran through the Trial Grounds, always finding himself back at the same crystal pool. It was far too pretty to sit in a place haunted by traitors, and when there was no ancestor that ever chose to reveal themselves to Mzatamo - good or evil - he ended up rejecting the belief and attributing the dreams to a case of eating bad prey. Still, somewhere deep in the back of his mind, Mzatamo does look at his pride mates and their ceremonies in hopes that maybe, somehow, the ancestors will prove their existence to him.

• When he was young, Mzatamo and his sister set out together as rogues. However, one day after he had gone out hunting, he returned to find that his sister had been attacked by a rogue. She saw distraught, but what was more concerning was her fatal wounds. Though Mzatamo tried his best, he did not know enough about medicine at the time to help her, and so she tragically passed away with Mzatamo at her side.

• During his time with them, Mzatamo learned almost everything that he now knows about medicine

• Mzatamo was tired of feeling alone, so when he stumbled across Jiwe and Nasaba, who were eager to try and convince him to join, he accepted. They were much better company than the monks anyways.
