About

Blood Moon was, seemingly, a normal foal born to a royal canterlot family. However, his parents are on rocky grounds towards each other, and unbeknownst to the both of them, the father is not who they had expected or hoped.

Canterlot

Blood Moon grew up on a grand lot of land within a high end mansion, with his whims catered to him. His parents were wealthy, powerful unicorns, and he both became familiarized with professionally interacting with others as well as isolating himself. When he wasn't involved in his parents parties with various business associates, he spent a large amount of time alone, mainly due to the fact that in the night, approaching blood moons, he would black out and wake up disheveled. He tries not to worry about it, but the nagging worry is always there as the white in his fur increases. Using his magic would also cause him to black out and his white parts to pulse- clearly, as he grew, ponies were starting to think something was wrong with him as his colors changed and he became more avoidant to magic. He's not sure if he wants to know what is wrong with him, so he avoids being around others in the case that it happens. However, after a bout of magic use, it is discovered that under the light of the moon or using his strong magic, he becomes a white bat pony. His parents come clear to him that his mother cheated, and he leaves his family to think on this with a pocket full of gold.

Ponyville

Blood Moon settles somewhere new where no one knows him or the odd aspects of him. He finds comfort in controlling his life for once, not feeling trapped in the cage of his mansion anymore but instead housed within a safe space of his own. Decorating his home brings him to his new favorite activity, exploring small businesses, where he is able to interact with other ponies politely while also small scale exploring without the fear of getting lost and time passing to night. His comforts are assured learning of various pony adjacent citizens- Ghost, Jewel, and Spell Write, and eventually he finds himself a magical amulet, meant for giving non unicorns unicorn magic. It is incredibly weak, but when worn, it is what his magic defaults to, keeping him from overwhelming himself when using magic.

Relationships

Spell Write [ enemies ]

Both Spell Write and Blood Moon have a similar affliction- when they use their natural magic, it deteriorates their body and mind. However, they both have radically different opinions about it. While Blood Moon hates using his magic due to the results, Spell Write is neutral at best and enjoys it at worst, finding that losing empathy makes it easier for him to do inhumane experiments on other ponies. On Spell Write's side, he consideers Blood Moon a dangerous, feral animal, as well as incredibly stupid for denying his magical ability, and Blood Moon refers to Spell Write as just plain evil.

Jewel [ Modest associates ]

Blood Moon and Jewel have been on several dates, as oddballs attract. They're just mysterious enough that they both have an itching curiousity about the other, and their easy going attitude makes interactions desirable for the both of them. They like to enjoy time together in small cafes. While Jewel is less of an insight pony and tends to avoid deep philosophical conversations that Blood Moon so enjoys, he finds their shallow talk enjoyable enough, and sees Jewel as a friend- but isn't sure if he feels the same way about him.
