Maculos grew up on the streets, and had to bite and claw his way through life just to survive, eventually turning to piracy and smuggling. Sepík watched his family carry out their tradition of killing each other in a bid to claim the title of family head and carry on the bloodline. They met during... Crimes. Idk. Maculos saw an opportunity for a more comfortable life, Sepík saw someone vicious and clever enough to help him keep that comfortable life. They killed Sepík's parents and took over the Ehydrinis empire. They found that they worked perfectly together, and actually legitimately fell in love. You Love To See It.
Then they had Vala.
Vala was a source of tension between the two - both were very strict with them, and put a great deal of pressure on to be the best, because having kids sucks and they didn't want to have to do a redo. However, Sepík tended to go soft on them on occasion, and Maculos was of the opinion that this would fuck Vala right up. Sepík was of the opinion that he wouldn't need to go soft on Vala if Maculos's teaching methods weren't supremely fucked. Nevertheless, they were happy! And powerful! And, most importantly, Sexy!
Unfortunately, they did sort of raise an emotionally unstable kid with only One source of affection and 46 years of training to be a killer. Who learned some extremely fucked up magic in a bid to get TWO sources of affection. And then used said magic to kill their only source of affection when he went "Hey, I can't love you if you won't listen to me!" Whoopsie Doodle.
Anyway Maculos is currently trying to kill their kid as payback. D&D is fun.
