Profile

A mysterious child who calls himself the Carnival King. While seemingly quite lively, the Carnival King is actually a ghost, a Chimereon who passed away due to unforeseen and tragic circumstances almost a full century ago. For years he was bound to the place he died, a dilapidated old carnival that used to be quite lively back when it was in-use. Now it’s as incorporeal as the boy himself, only appearing on certain misty summer nights in the middle of a great field. Most of the time, the Carnival King was alone in the carnival, with no company but a mysterious statue named Ozymandias. When the King faded, so would the carnival, and everything within it.

One day, however, a group of Chimereons found the carnival, and promised to help him bring it back to its former glory for just a little while. As more and more Chimereons flocked to the carnival, lit by magical firefly lanterns and blazing bonfires, the Carnival King’s presence in the world grew more and more stable. Until finally, even as the sun rose and the carnival began to fade, he found himself able to leave the place with his newfound friends and his old friend Oz in tow.

As many children are, the Carnival King is easily excitable and doesn’t have much thought for consequence. He’s proud and doesn’t like showing weakness in front of others, much rather preferring to impress them with his powers of flight and creation. He doesn’t know a lot, but what he lacks in wisdom and intelligence he makes up for in bravado and confidence. He likes to boss others around, but is starting to realize that doing so isn't very conducive to friendship.

Now that he’s taken up residence inside Chantilly’s home and place of business, far away from the carnival, his powers have lessened in exchange for a corporeal form. He can still float for the most part, and produce little illusions here and there, but he doesn’t mind it very much. The Carnival King, or C.K. as Chantilly calls him, is much more excited about the prospect of making friends after a hundred years of being mostly on his own. He knows he can go back to the carnival any time he wants to wake it up again, but for now, he’s quite content getting used to this new kind of life.
