Kamiko Nakahara

Kamiko was born on March 7th, 1996, in Kyoto, Japan. Her mother, Hoyumi Nakahara, had made a pact with a demon she named Kaname the night before she was to wed Augustus Balsz. The night resulted in Hoyumi becoming pregnant. The pact was called off by Kaname, as the woman had requested for him to protect her children in exchange for her soul. As it was now too close to home, Kaname could no longer do so. However, he promised Hoyumi that since Kamiko was his daughter, he would still watch over her like a guardian angel.

Augustus was a rather hot-tempered man who was rarely home due to his business. However, no matter if he didn't spend much time with his family, he still lashed out at them often. Hoyumi was covered in bruises most of the time, while Kamiko's shoulders were covered in burns from cigarettes. One day, Augustus threw Hoyumi into the lake near their rural home, knowing she couldn't swim. She struggled the entire time, and Kamiko watched in horror from the porch as she went under. After a month of abuse towards Kamiko, the house was caught in a freak fire accident, and Augustus perished. Kamiko was brought in by the neighbors immediately. The old couple could not care for her forever, and so, they sent her to an orphanage when she was eight years old.

When a man teaching guitar came to the orphanage, Kamiko was afraid of him. He reminded her much of Augustus, but after many repeated visits, he soon grew on her. When Shade finally adopted her, she realized how a father was truly meant to treat his children. They moved to London soon after.
