Eris is an amicable medical student aiming to become a psychiatrist, so they can help treat mental illness. They're passionate about their studies and like to regale people with neurology ramblings. Many people consider them a bit hard to read and prone to strange phrasing, sometimes speaking of feelings in terms of hormones and parts of the brain.
Most people perceive them as either creepy or rather soothing - sometimes, both.
Background
Starting at age 13, following a family move, Eris fell into chronic depression, which gradually worsened over time. Due to their good grades, her parents didn't take note, so they went without treatment or much support until they graduated high school, at which point their decline became much more externally visible. Unable to attend university or go to work, their family was forced to acknowledge their illness and helped them start treatment including some time in an inpatient program. After making some progress in therapy, when they finally achieved the right constellation of medications for them, they improved considerably and were able to start university at 21. With continuing treatment, they've gotten much better.
