History

[ ]

To the far northeast of Fódlan, there exists the nation of Escea, an advanced nation of magic and fine architecture founded two hundred years before the Adrestian Empire.

One hundred years before its founding, the land was occupied by five clans of people who learned to utilize the magical properties of the wildlife. Then came a great threat from one of those clans, who sought to commodify the land's resources in order to expand their influence in the hopes of ruling the other clans. They destroyed the land wherever they went, and enslaved other clans, forcing them to work and further the destruction. Then came a hero, rising from the ashes of his fallen clan with a Crest forged out of fire — Ambersun. He united the region's remaining clans under the same flag, that of his hometown Escea, and launched a rebellion against the ruling clan. They emerged from their victory a united nation, and Ambersun was chosen by the people to lead them.

Diligence and strictness are the trademarks of Escea's people, and they spend their lives stooped in the study of magic and philosophy. Though they possess incredible skill, they are not an aggressive people, and their military is minimal. The nation is ruled by the descendants of the hero Ambersun.

In Imperial Year 89, the effects of the rapid industrialization of Escea begin to emerge as the deaths of large swaths of animals and crops. Prince Ades Ambersun, the second son of King August Ambersun, declares his intentions to head westward after legends of a miracle worker reach his ears. He vows to bring the Saint Seiros back to Escea in the hopes of saving their land, but is instead greeted by a nation torn by war. He offers his loyalty to Saint Seiros in exchange for her blessing of Escea, and lends his men in the Church's battle against Nemesis and his allies.

Though he plans on returning to his homeland after the end of the War of Heroes, a woman comes bearing his child, begging him to stay. Knowing that Escea has received the Saint's blessing and having fulfilled his goal, he stays without a second thought. House Ambersun is established in Myrddin In Imperial Year 98.

In Imperial Year 250, King Aerius Ambersun declares that Escea's debts to the Church of Seiros have been re-payed in full, and thus, Escea would no longer be beholden to the Church. This declaration was passed onto Amyntas Ambersun, the current head of House Ambersun in Myrddin, who decided that regardless of his homeland's inclinations, he would remain in Fódlan, though no longer as an ally of the Church, but a neutral party. House Ambersun's relationship with the Church is not especially warm or hostile after this.

In Imperial Year 801, the nobles of the Leicester region rebelled against the Empire. The Great Bridge of Myrddin became a prime area of weakness for them. House Ambersun offered their own mages as a guard against possible invasion from the Empire, solidifying itself as an ally to the Leicester nobility. Then the Kingdom of Faerghus annexed the Leicester territory and occupied it. House Ambersun established itself as neither friend nor foe to the Kingdom, and was even willing to lend itself to struggles between the Kingdom and Empire. In 881, the Leicester Alliance rose up against King Claus I's descendants. There, House Ambersun became a great ally to the Duke of Riegan. The Crescent Moon War ended in Imperial Year 901 with the independence of the Leicester Alliance. Though House Ambersun never accepted Duke Riegan's invitation to become one of the highest noble houses of the Alliance, they remained in close contact with those houses that did.

Early Life

Esmé von Bouwmeester was adopted into House Goneril by Marcus and Camelia von Bouwmeester — distant cousins of the current main branch — after her parents died in an accident at sea. This was their second adoption. Their son Noah was the first, as the couple was unable to have children. Esmé went on to become a warrior stationed at Fódlan's Locket. In the Imperial Year 1159, Esmé married Margrave Aeron Ambersun. Faeron was born as Amelia Ambersun in the Imperial Year 1161.

In Imperial Year 1169, Margrave Ambersun receives a letter from Escea from someone claiming to be of his bloodline, pleading for help in a war against Almyra. Margrave Ambersun decides to leave on a whim. Esmé insists that she fight by his side, and entrusts her child's care to her brother, Noah. Noah receives a letter in Imperial Year 1170 notifying the family of their deaths, and Noah officially adopts his sister's child.

Known for his jolly nature, the eccentric Noah von Bouwmeester spent most of his time tending to his trees in his orchard. Employees joked about him being married to his apples, even his cheeks were as red, though this was due to the unfortunate reality of Noah's failing health rather than fated irony. Noah had a weak heart. Faeron recalls him always needing to sit down to take a breather after even the tiniest bit of effort. Despite this, he cared for his sister's child to the best of his ability, and Faeron's memory of Noah was a happy one. In particular, when the child asked Noah to take on a different name than the one they were given, Noah suggested Faeron in honour of their father, which they accepted happily.

Noah dies in the Imperial Year 1176. In his will, he left Faeron's care-taking to Lord Hartwin Hildebrand, the son of a family friend and Noah's most trusted companion. This comes as a shock to Hildebrand, who was ill-prepared to take on the role of a father. Because of his relationship to the Bouwmeester family, however, he obliged, albeit poorly. Taking a hands-off approach to the kid's upbringing, Hildebrand expected Faeron to take care of themselves, make their own decisions, and solve their own problems as an adult would. As such, Faeron rarely had to rely on the adults in their life, and kept to themselves. Hildebrand was not involved in many of Faeron's life choices, but this was only beneficial to Faeron, who preferred to be on their own to study the things in their caretaker's library and train with the guards into the early hours of the morning. They were self sufficient, which pleased Hildebrand greatly, and when Faeron began to show a talent in magic, Hildebrand suggested Faeron enrol at the Officers Academy, which they did in the Imperial Year 1180.

Academy Phase

As a student at the Officers Academy in Garreg Mach Monastery in Imperial Year 1180, Faeron is a part of the Golden Deer.

No matter which route is chosen, Faeron follows Claude and the Golden Deer in his team-up with Dimitri and the Knights of Seiros, led by Archbishop Rhea, to defend Garreg Mach against the Adrestian Empire. They are crushed by Adrestian forces, and are forced to surrender, also losing Byleth in the process during the battle.

War Phase

The territorial dispute between House Gloucester and Acheron catches House Ambersun in the middle, as it is situated in a territory right along the Bridge of Myrddin, and though it was neutral ground in the past, with no lord of the house present, it became another spoil of war, taken over by Acheron. For unknown reasons, he would not allow Faeron to reside in their estate, so they are forced to leave to House Hildebrand in Goneril territory, though not without taking as much of their parents' belongings as they can.

Upon their return, they go through their father's treasury and find many letters detailing exchanges between Margrave Ambersun and his relatives in Escea. They also find the letter addressed to Noah which told of the Margrave's and his wife's passing. Unsure what to do, they seek Lord Hartwin's opinion for the first time in years. Surprisingly, he is willing to give advice. He knows nothing of Escea or Faeron's lineage, but he thinks that a curious mind should go to the source of the information. He writes to Lord Holst at once, and attains permission for Faeron to journey into Escea.

When Faeron returns to Escea in Imperial Year 1181, they seek out the names in the Margrave's letters, and it brings them to the Ambersun Castle, though it is impossible for them to enter, as the castle has been seized by bad actors. In the tunnels below, Faeron is accosted by a group of strange people calling themselves The Purists, who demand to know the source of Faeron's Crest. Taken aback by their recognition, Faeron in turns asks how they knew of it, and what they knew of it. The Purists properly introduce themselves as the followers of the Ambersun Main Branch bloodline. Centuries ago, their ancestors had pledged loyalty to the Ambersun progenitor. They knew Faeron must be a direct descendant of the progenitor because the Ambersun Crest could only be inherited through direct blood relation. When Faeron handed The Purists the letters exchanged between the Margrave and his relatives, it was confirmed. Faeron was really Amelia Ambersun, descendant of Prince Ades Ambersun who had left Escea centuries ago, and therefore that meant Faeron was the rightful heir to the throne.

The Purists urge Faeron to take their place upon the throne at once, so that the order could be reestablished, but Faeron had no intention of becoming royalty when they came to Escea, they only wished to learn more about their family, and they'd also promised someone important they would meet with them again in five years and were intending to make good on that promise. But then that gives Faeron an idea, and they come to an agreement. The Purists would come with Faeron to Fódlan to fight in their war, and then Faeron would return to Escea to ascend the throne. The Purists agree, and Faeron returns to the Garreg Mach Monastery in Imperial Year 1185.

If Byleth chooses to continue on the Silver Snow route and Faeron was recruited before the timeskip, Faeron reappears in Chapter 13 with Escean soldiers and The Purists at their back, to provide reinforcements to Seteth and the remaining members of the church as they drive out the bandits in the monastery. In the Great Bridge Event in Chapter 16, in response to Seteth, Faeron states they have faith that Claude knows what he's doing. In the battle, if Faeron engages in combat with Acheron, they have an exchange in which Acheron is surprised to see Faeron has come back after he threw them out of his territory, and Faeron warns it will not be his territory for much longer. If Faeron has not reached S-support with Byleth or A-support with other characters, then before the final battle in Chapter 21, Faeron has a short conversation with Byleth where they promise to find Claude again. After the war ends, Faeron is not seen again, however they send a letter to Byleth detailing their battle in Escea and their ascension to the throne.

If Byleth chooses to continue on the Silver Snow route and Faeron was not recruited before the timeskip, then Faeron reappears as a playable unit in Chapter 17 with Escean soldiers and The Purists at their back. They state that they are here on behalf of Claude, and will see to it that the professor and their students are safe. Before the final battle in Chapter 21, Faeron has a short conversation with Byleth where they promise to find Claude again. After the war ends, Faeron is not seen again, however rumours tell of their involvement in a great battle to the far northeast of Fódlan.

Crimson Flower

"Just a minute! The following section contains spoilers, viewing it will cost a lot. Are you prepared to pay for it?"

[ ]

If Byleth continues on the Crimson Flower route and Faeron is recruited before the timeskip, Faeron reappears in Chapter 13, to provide reinforcements to the Imperial army as they capture the Bridge of Myrddin. When they arrive, they lament on how their father's territory has changed beyond recognition, and in response to Acheron's open distaste with following Claude, replies with a snide comment on how a rat with a powdered wig has more nobility than he does. When Faeron is the one engaging Acheron in battle, they have a short exchange, where Acheron accuses Faeron of having cursed him after he expelled them from their estate, and Faeron warns him that he should be careful or he really will be cursed.

In the beginning of Chapter 14, Faeron remarks on how wrong it feels to turn their weapon against The Alliance. If Faeron engages Claude in combat, the two have a short exchange. Claude asks Faeron if they really believe in what they're fighting for. Faeron states that they are following Byleth, and do not care for this senseless war. Then they apologize for having to fight him, and Claude states that there is no one he would rather face on the battlefield. If Faeron is the one to defeat Claude, they remark on how good Claude looks in this position, and Claude jokes that he's been on his knees for Faeron since the day they met.

The player can then make a choice to spare or kill Claude. If Claude is spared, Faeron approaches Byleth later in private to tell them that Claude asked them to come find him after the war, meaning that he'd given his blessing for Faeron to continue following Byleth. They thank Byleth for showing mercy, and leave. If Claude is killed, then Byleth finds Faeron alone, and they are openly weeping. When Byleth attempts to approach Faeron, Faeron lashes out with their blade, but stops themselves before they make contact. They tell Byleth that the Empire is full of monsters worse than anything they've ever seen. Faeron warns Byleth that sleeping peacefully after this would be a fatal mistake. They leave without saying goodbye.

If the player chooses to kill Claude, the player not only loses the ability to S-Support Faeron, but Faeron's end card defaults to the unpaired ending.

If Byleth continues on the Crimson Flower route and Faeron has not been recruited pre-timeskip, Faeron will reappear in Chapter 14, at the battle of Derdriu. They bring reinforcements after Lysithea is either killed or defects to the Empire, or after Hilda is killed. Faeron may be killed, upon which they apologize to Claude for being so weak, and to which Claude painfully remarks on how he's never cried at a sunset before. Faeron's death can be avoided if Byleth is allowed to speak to them and convinces them to retreat, however this is only possible if the player has achieved B-support with them prior to the timeskip. After the battle, if Faeron has survived, Byleth receives a letter from Faeron, stating that they have returned to Escea to fulfill their duty, and if the player has chosen to spare Claude, thanks them for their mercy. If Claude is slain, the end of the letter promises of Faeron's return on unsavoury terms.

If the Blue Lions route is chosen and Faeron is recruited before the timeskip, Faeron reappears in Chapter 13. They arrive at Garreg Mach after the encounter with Byleth, with Escean soldiers and The Purists behind them. Following the storyline, The Kingdom is led by Dimitri against the Empire and Edelgard, and they emerge victorious. Faeron appears at Dimitri's side in a cutscene shortly after the Emperor's defeat, taking place in the monastery, where they apologize to him, stating they will have to bother him for just a little while longer, since they promised Claude to look after him. Dimitri is happy to have his friend by him. Faeron returns to Escea in Imperial Year 1189, and in Imperial Year 1191, is crowned king of Escea after defeating The Reformists and Amelius Ambersun.

If Faeron is not recruited, they will reappear in Chapter 17 as an Alliance reinforcement. Defeating Faeron causes them to retreat, with Claude saying they still have much to do and cannot die at Gronder. Later on, they appear in Chapter 19 alongside Claude defending Derdriu. Depending on the player's actions, they can survive the battle or be killed by the invading Adrestian Empire army, leaving Claude in anguish. In this occasion, upon completing the mission, the player will receive The Purists, a battalion made up of Escean noble loyalists, who pledge allegiance to The Kingdom, swearing vengeance in the name of their deceased leader. If Faeron survives, they join the Kingdom's forces as a playable unit, stating their trust in Claude's decision as an influence.

If the Golden Deer route is chosen, Faeron reappears in Chapter 13. Following the storyline, The Alliance is led by Claude against the Empire and Edelgard, and they emerge victorious. They then take down Those Who Slither in the Dark, and defeat the revived Nemesis for good. Faeron then returns to Escea as promised, and battles against The Reformists and Amelius Ambersun. They are crowned king of Escea in Imperial Year 1191. In Imperial Year 1195, Fódlan, Almyra, and Escea establish a trade agreement that launches their economies into a prosperous future.

Personality

One's impression of Faeron is dependant on which face they decide to show. They are all deception and pretension, playing up their mystery. Can what they say be trusted? That is for their beholder to decide. "Be polite, be cordial. Talk less, smile more, don't let them know what you're against or what you're for. In the game of politics, stiffen your upper lip and give no inclination of your allies or foes. Politicians are ravenous hyenas waiting for a sign of weakness. So long as you keep them guessing, they'll never have the upper hand." Such is the legacy of Hartwin Hildebrand. Maybe he was just paranoid, or maybe there was some truth to what he said. Faeron was exposed to the world of nobility rather young, and learned rather quickly that nobles are friendly so long as they can profit in some way, and leave their so-called friends in the dust when it no longer benefits them. And so Faeron becomes the very nobility their caretaker hated in order to win their game. They're not outright dishonest, but they are not straightforward and give only subtle clues to what their true feelings might be. They are levelheaded and objective, often playing devil's advocate. Seemingly motivated by chaos and nothing else, even Faeron's personal goals remain a mystery. Very little information on them exists, and that's how they prefer it. Trust is a commodity in high scarcity, and they're not looking to barter.

This is why they so easily slip into the role of a prince, noble and honourable, charming and sweeping ladies off their feet. Faeron is popular for being apolitical and just having fun and making anyone feel like they're truly appreciated, easily earning the trust and admiration of others. Despite some of their more unsettling language, they are quick to make others comfortable. They are cool and take charge. Don't worry your pretty little head, princess, for your knight has arrived. Yet it feels as though no one is ever good enough for Faeron. All their relationships are superficial and meaningless, and they show no interest in things like marriage or children. Still, many a Lady hopes they will be the one to get Faeron to open up to them.

Despite their noble status, House Ambersun and their relatives did not live in decadence. They had no care for finery, unlike Faeron, who always wanted to drape themselves in gold and pearls. They kept their own secret collection of silks and jewels, and their most prized possession is a highly valuable apple keychain. Though not entirely vain, Faeron's one love is that of opulence. They possess a love of drama, art, and all things that sparkle. Gossip and secrets attract their attention most. They possess a true romantic longing to find that one connection they can call their own, which is why their guilty pleasure is that of cheesy romantic novels. They're slow to warm up and even slower to fall in love, but when it concerns a love interest with an air of mystery, this reverses, and they fall hard.

For most of their life, they were not raised with kids around their age, or any at all. Their parents did not have any other children, and Noah von Bouwmeester never married. Hildebrand was even less likely to get married, despite being the oldest of his siblings, due to his severe distrust of everyone around him. Being an only child means Faeron does not know how to play nice with others, despite being able to read them particularly well. They spent their childhood locked up in the library or honing their skills. They're independent, self-sufficient, and were always praised for being mature for their age. Unlike other children, who were whiny and needy and emotional, Faeron kept to themselves and never asked for anything, to the absolute delight of the Hildebrand household.

But because of this, they struggle to work in a team, to depend on others, to ask for help when they need it. They're so used to hiding their feelings and problems that they cannot articulate them once the need arises. Furthermore, their lack of trust in others means they are quick to disregard another's cry for help as a lack of skill, though they typically pity these types of people and do not show any animosity, and come across as condescending or patronizing when approached. This gives Faeron the appearance of being self-centred and insensitive, even when they are not, and do truly feel compassion and a wish to help.

As much as Faeron pretends that nothing ever bothers them, there are things that even they cannot hide. They feel especially bonded to those who are socially outcast, who don't fit into their expected roles, who wish to challenge society's norms. They refuse to put up with injustice or oppression, and deep, deep down, they became so enamoured with their house leader's ideals that they vow to follow him no matter what, because what starts out as a lofty goal comes closer and closer to being reality, and despite what everyone thinks of them, Faeron only wants to live freely without judgment.

Overall

Faeron's strengths are in their Reason and Faith skills, though these stats are balanced out by a surprising skill with Sword. They are most suited to classes that utilize magical skill or sword prowess. They have average movement capability, more than a typical mage but less than that of more moveable units. Like the typical mage, their defense is low, but this is offset by their speed and dexterity, meaning that they are highly likely to avoid many hits and then more likely to land a critical hit in return. Overall, they are an above average mage with the ability to compensate for the typical mage weaknesses.

Faeron - King of Escea

Once the war is over, Faeron keeps to their word and returns to Escea with The Purists to challenge Amelius Ambersun for his claim to the throne. They defeat Amelius in combat, and are crowned King of Escea in Imperial Year 1191, officially reinstating the Main Branch bloodline as the ruling body of Escea once again. They propose reforms that change the method of noble inheritance, giving the Split Branch more involvement in court matters and diminishing the importance of Crests. Faeron is officially known as the most eccentric king in Escea's history, and stories of their expansive apple orchard reach far and wide.

Faeron - A Heart Scorned (Crimson Flower, if Claude is killed)

Once the war is over, Faeron keeps to their word and returns to Escea with The Purists to challenge Amelius Ambersun for his claim to the throne. They defeat Amelius in combat, and are crowned King of Escea in Imperial Year 1191, officially reinstating the Main Branch bloodline as the ruling body of Escea once again. Then they set their sights on Fódlan, intending to fulfill Claude's dream by destroying the boundaries between nations, as well as exacting revenge on the ones who were instrumental to Claude's death. The resulting war was so brutal that centuries later, its chapter in history books was titled Fódlan's Solar Eclipse, and ended with the execution of the tyrant and her right hand. Faeron stepped down from the throne once Achilles Ambersun was old enough to take the throne, and they spent the rest of their life as a traveling scholar.

Faeron - King and Lionheart (Silver Snow)

Faeron sets out to find Claude after the war. After years of searching, Faeron comes across a familiar face in the farthest reaches of Almyra, in a mountain valley cut off from the rest of the country. Though he is ragged and has grown a beard, Faeron recognizes him immediately. Once they have reconciled, Faeron sets off to Escea to fulfill their promise. Claude comes with them, but not as Claude von Riegan, as he wanted that name to disappear from history. Claude takes on the identity of Hydarnes, and after Faeron is crowned King in Imperial Year 1194, Claude lives on as King Faeron Ambersun's closet confidant and right hand man. Faeron proposes reforms that change the method of noble inheritance, giving the Split Branch more involvement in court matters and diminishing the importance of Crests. Faeron is officially known as the most eccentric king in Escea's history, and stories of their expansive apple orchard reach far and wide.

Faeron and Byleth

They promise themselves to one another before Faeron sets off for Escea, though Faeron is surprised by Byleth choosing to lead allied reinforcements into Escea to aid in the efforts against The Reformists in a decisive battle. Faeron is crowned King of Escea in Imperial Year 1191. Byleth announces their marriage shortly after, and a strong alliance is forged between Fódlan and Escea. Escea aided greatly in the restoration of Fódlan, and eventually, in Imperial Year 1200, The Escean Institute of Architecture was opened in Myrddin, with King Faeron Ambersun leading as its Headmaster. Engineering in Fódlan is launched into the future, and some of the world's greatest architects herald from this institute.

Faeron and Claude - (Verdant Wind)

After the war, they part ways to tend to their own ambitions. Soon after Claude becomes King of Almyra, he arrives in Escea with Almyran soldiers as reinforcements to Faeron and The Purists, and aids in the efforts against The Reformists in a decisive battle. Faeron is crowned King of Escea in Imperial Year 1191. Claude announces their marriage shortly after, and a strong alliance is forged between Almyra and Escea. It is then that Faeron announces their pregnancy, and steps down from the throne to allow Alexius Ambersun's son, Achilles, now of age, to take the throne in their stead. Faeron lives their true dream thereafter as a travelling scholar by Claude's side. Their greatest achievement is The Swinging Garden in the Almyran Palace, where people visit from far and wide to see the legendary apple orchard.

Faeron and Lorenz

Lorenz proposed to Faeron on the battlefield as soon as the war was over, and Faeron was so taken aback that they sputter out nonsense and retreat without giving an answer. They do not see each other again until after Faeron is crowned King of Escea in Imperial Year 1191, when Faeron returns to Fódlan and is surprised to find that Lorenz has waited for them. They give their answer then, and the two are wed soon after. The revolutionary policy changes Lorenz brought to Fódlan were implemented in Escea, bringing with them the same benefits to the common folk. In Imperial Year 1200, The Escean Institute of Wizardry is opened in Myrddin with Lorenz serving as its headmaster. Faeron visits from time to time. When Lorenz grows ill, their son takes over for him.

Faeron and Marianne

Faeron proposes to Marianne before the war and is promptly rejected, not because Marianne does not want to marry, but because she thinks Faeron is joking. After Faeron is crowned King of Escea in Imperial Year 1191, Faeron returns to Fódlan and proposes to Marianne again. Marianne rejects them again, though she agrees to go to Escea with Faeron to use her diplomacy skills to quell the fringe rebellions and unite the common folk with the nobility. After peace is achieved, Faeron attempts once more to propose to Marianne. This time she accepts, and after the two are wed, Marianne serves as Faeron's closest advisor and confidant.

Faeron and Dimitri - (Azure Moon)

Faeron keeps Dimitri company until Imperial Year 1189, when they return to Escea and are crowned King in Imperial Year 1191, though they do not remain there for long, as they are unhappy without their friend by their side. They soon step down to return to Fódlan, which was unsurprising to Dimitri, whose prayers for Faeron's return had been answered. Castle attendants saw them sitting in the courtyard together every day, and on one of those days, Dimitri held Faeron's hand and quietly proposed to them. The two of them ruled justly, improving foreign relations between their countries and others, and implemented social changes that greatly benefitted the poor and orphaned. They adopted a few children, and they lived a long and comfortable life, happy just being together.

Faeron and Sylvain

Sylvain proposes to Faeron shortly after the end of the war, but Faeron tells him they will only accept on the day he achieves his ambitions and becomes an extraordinary lord worthy to stand by their side. Stories of Sylvain's successes, his new relations with Sreng, and the shift in attitude towards Crests and Relics, reach Faeron from far and wide, but they do not meet again until Imperial Year 1191, when Faeron makes a dramatic entrance and flies into the garden on a wyvern to invite Sylvain to their coronation. During the celebration, Faeron tells Sylvain they accept his proposal, though they warn him he will do a great deal of pining until the day Achilles Ambersun will be old enough to take the throne. They have many children whom they care for regardless of whether they have Crests or not.

Faeron and Ferdinand

Stories written by their descendants tell of how Ferdinand's proposal was straight out of a fairy tale — He rode in on a noble white stallion, hair flowing in the wind, and a sunset painted him in gold as he held out his hand to Faeron. So taken by Duke Aegir and the promise of a never-ending passion, Faeron fell into his arms and accepted wholeheartedly, and stayed with him until after bearing their first son, after which they leave the child with Ferdinand and return to Escea to fulfill their promise. They are crowned King of Escea in Imperial Year 1191, and when Achilles Ambersun is old enough to take the throne a few years later, Faeron steps down and returns to their waiting husband and child, where they have many more children, and Faeron spends the rest of their days designing architectural masterpieces in honour of their most noble husband, making the Aegir territory the most beautiful in all of Fódlan.

Faeron and Constance

Before Faeron leaves to Escea, Constance demands of them to propose so that she has something to look forward to while Faeron is away, which they do happily. Constance does not hear from Faeron again until Imperial Year 1195, despite Faeron being crowned King of Escea in Imperial year 1191, and that's when she receives a letter asking her to come to The Capital. Faeron had spent years building a monument for House Nuvelle as a testament to its strength and ability. Constance bids farewell to Fódlan and from then on calls Escea home. She spends the rest of her life dedicated to magical research and development, becoming the Head of the Institute of Magical Engineering in Imperial Year 1200. The couple was remembered for their grandiosity, and for stories that told of a king who was much too happy to be the test subject of their wife's countless magical experiments.

Etymology

Aeron is derived from Aaron, which is derived from the Hebrew name אַהֲרֹן ('Aharon), meaning "high mountain" or "exalted." In the Old Testament, this was the name of Moses' older brother, who acted as Moses' spokesperson when demanding the freedom of the Israelites. His staff was able to produce both miracles and plagues, and he was appointed by God as the first High Priest of the Israelites after their arrival at Mount Sinai, and was promised his descendants would form a priesthood. Fae, or fairy, is derived from faie. In Old French romance, a faie was a woman who was skilled in magic, and who knew the power and virtue of words, stones, and herbs. Ambersun is a combination of "amber" and "sun." It is possibly a description of the distinct hair colour of the progenitor and his direct descendants. It may also refer to the effect of the Crest of Ambersun, which gives users a slight amber glow to their eyes when their Crest is activated in direct sunlight. The surname Bouwmeester is Dutch for "architect" or "builder," and makes reference to Faeron's personal passion and eventual ambition.
