Personality

Helpful // Solemn // Rational // Selfless // Evasive // Stubborn

Glade is a rugged, down-to-earth mare. Few of her acquaintances have ever seen her crack a smile, and she much prefers a companionable silence to idle chatter. Despite appearances, she is very slow to anger, and won't speak harshly to others even if they (secretly) get on her nerves. She's physically strong and capable, and can often be found traveling alone in the coldest regions she can find, dressed in rough furs. [68]

History

-- Glade was brought to Ivras as a young child. Her family, fleeing the growing unrest in Siregal, sought a quiet life in Ivras's rural villages.

-- When her magic manifested, she was sent to the Order to study as a proper mage.

-- Disgrundled with the strict and orderly life as an Order mage, but raised to keep her head down and be obedient, she left immediately after graduation to wander the continent.

-- She does her best to solve other's problems as she comes across them during her travels, and often trades labor for a place to stay the night, or a hot meal.

-- She's always remained strictly neutral, and does her best to stay out of political conflicts. She has worked dozens of odd jobs (teacher, bodyguard, search and rescue, farmer, map maker, guide) but always refuses to become a soldier.

-- She has a dislike for the Witchfinders, finding them far too nosy, but generally keeps her thoughts to herself.

Glade can summon a wintry storm (strong winds and heavy driving snow) to reduce visibility, obscure her from enemies, and create difficult terrain. The snow and ice melts quickly after the storm has been dismissed, and given Ivras's normal climate, is not particularly subtle. She most often uses this to blind, slow, or otherwise incapacitate an opponent, or to escape an encounter that's gone bad.

  • She can conjure and banish the storm in under a minute, and control its strength.
  • At its full strength, Whiteout can completely blow away small creatures (birds, cats) and incapacitate medium sized ones (sheep, gazelle). Larger creatures (horses, elk) can slowly make their way through the storm, with great effort.
  • She can 'center' the eye of the storm around any living thing in her vicinity, as long as the target is within eyesight. The storm will then move to keep the target at its center.
  • She can shield up to three living targets caught within Whiteout to bypass all of the storm's effects (for example, herself and two teammates).
