Digimon Daybreak

2140903_6cr0r7EHj3RqBGa.png
  • Name Jaesun Park
  • Age 17
  • Birthday June 22
  • Crest Reliance
  • Partner Arachmon
  • Personality

Aloof. Competitive. Self-reliant. Alert. Impatient. Arrogant. Persistent. Resolute.

Younger Jaesun was quick to befriend others without serious attachment, but the current Jaesun is more aloof. He doesn't mind being around others who are working for a common goal, but drives himself to go beyond anyone's expectations. He's quite competitive, but quiet in comparing himself to others. He would much rather rely on himself than to trust things to others, especially when it's anything that he considers particularly important. Jaesun rarely confides his thoughts in anyone and would rather act after some decent thought than to rush into things or overthink situations. He's not very patient with himself or others, and is especially harsh on himself when he doesn't measure up to his own expectations and ambitions. Jaesun is easy to get along with when left to his own devices, but becomes quiet and defensive whenever anyone tries to get close to him. He doesn't want to get anyone involved with his own affairs, but at the same time becomes very observant and likely to offer advice when someone else has issues of their own.

  • Appearance

Fair skin, dark brown eyes, dark brown hair. His hairstyle is almost always arranged so that a potion of it covers his left eye, which is photosensitive and starts to hurt when exposed to too much light. His sense of style comes naturally to him, often a sort of trendy casual that suits him well. Jaesun generally appears very cool and collected in his demeanor, sometimes with just enough of a tough edge to draw a little bit of extra attention that he isn't necessarily looking for.

  • Story

As a child, Jaesun stood out for his very brash and almost flamboyant personality. He got on well with most other children for a while, but not all of them were appreciative of his over-exuberant manner and enthusiasm for playing rough. His parents wisely redirected his attention towards sports, enrolling him with various different local leagues and teams as the seasons changed. One summer when he was seven, Jaesun attended a week-long soccer camp for children. An hour or so after arriving, the staff experienced an issue with their computer systems and lost information on nearly half of the children attending. It took a great deal of time before everything was sorted out, and no one realized that Jaesun had disappeared along with his information. For his part, Jaesun explored around the camp until he found an empty computer room. He was about to walk right out again when a screen lit up with some sort of glitched game caught his attention. The graphics worsened when he got closer, and then the screen flashed too brightly for him to see anything. When his vision cleared, Jaesun found himself in some sort of empty storage shed. Confused, but unafraid, he let himself out and discovered a large forest that he'd never seen before. He decided to continue his exploration, and it wasn't long before he was utterly lost and found himself face-to-face with an extraordinarily huge bug that gave chase. Jaesun ran, his smaller size working in his favor as the creature wasn't very precise in its attempts to catch him, but he ultimately found himself cornered. As he was still scrambling to figure out a way to escape, a second creature appeared and drove off the first. Jaesun found himself rescued by a red-headed man named Mike, who seemed just as surprised to find him there. Mike explained to Jaesun that they were in the digital world and took him back to the shed which he'd first appeared in. To his confusion, there was no working pathway back to the real world from there, and so Mike was left with no option other than to bring the boy along with him. Jaesun found it to be a grand adventure and asked multiple questions along the way. They arrived in Primary Village, where Mike got ahold of his allies and tried to come up with a solution. When he went searching for Jaesun again, he found that the boy had been drawn to one of the eggs in the village. When Jaesun touched it, it hatched into a small blue Digimon. Mike wasted no time in saying it was time to go, and Jaesun simply patted the creature before leaving to follow Mike again.

Over the next few days, Mike made repeated attempts to send Jaesun back, and Jaesun proceeded to have a grand time meeting Digimon while exploring and traveling with Mike. They arrived in Infinity City while some celebration was being arranged; Jaesun skipped over paying attention to the details of the event, instead spending his time befriending new Digimon and ultimately teaching a group of local Rookies how to play soccer (or rather, just a crude version that barely hung on to the rules at all). Their playtime was interrupted by sudden ominous weather, during which Mike hunted Jaesun down and hurriedly ushered him to a safe location. Jaesun didn't fully understand what was going on, only that there was some sort of danger, many who were panicking, and Mike speaking to his allies very insistently about getting him sent back home. The group of them got something worked out; Jaesun suddenly understood that something terrible was about to happen to them, but didn't have the chance to truly protest before he found himself tumbling across the floor of the computer lab he'd originally left from. Having returned right at the end of camp when his parents came to collect him, Jaesun was quite upset to be leaving. His parents understood the situation as him missing the new friends he'd made, and assured him that he could go back soon enough. Back at home, he took a sudden interest in computers and various technology; his parents were at first pleased with it, but then concerned when he grew increasingly frustrated and unable to tell them a story that really made proper sense. When school started again, Jaesun took out his frustrations by becoming more aggressive and competitive in his sports playing, and his usual group of friends grew more distant from his sudden determination. Jaesun continued playing sports over the next several years, showing a preference for soccer and joining his high school team for a while. Time dulled the urgency of trying to return to the Digital world to find out what had happened to Mike, but Jaesun didn't ever give up on his attempts. He one day found a device that looked exactly how he remembered the one that Mike carried, and since decided to always carry it around with him.

  • Arachmon Partner

Jaesun feels that he lucked out with the actual best perfect partner he ever could have asked for. Arachmon is silent in the company of others and quiet around Jaesun in a way that he can appreciate. Arachmon also seems to have the ability to act as quickly as Jaesun can think, so there's very little verbal communication required between them in the vast majority of situations, including battle. Jaesun feels that Arachmon understands him on a level that no one else even gets close to and will literally entrust his life to his partner. Arachmon is similarly trusting, never truly questioning any of Jaesun's decisions and just making sure that he's there whenever needed.

  • Emma Teammate

The two of them struggle to see eye to eye on a lot of topics. While Emma does her best to get everyone on the same page, Jaesun goes out of his way to do his own thing. He doesn't immediately care for the others like she does, and views them as a burden rather than a help. Jaesun would much rather solve his own problems than to rely on anyone else, which causes a lot of frustration for Emma when he refuses help. They eventually come to an understanding where he reminds her to be less bossy and she reminds him to stop being so aloof. Once he stops being so critical of Emma all the time, Jaesun is able to admit to himself that he does like her as a person and can respect that she takes on so much responsibility. He appreciates her ability to handle so many people and problems all at once, and finds himself occasionally in a position to actually offer his support instead of letting her take on everything alone. The two of them do end up cautiously pursuing a slow-moving relationship together.

  • Ethan Teammate

Jaesun sort of deals with him reluctantly, but does decide that he's worthy for friendship after realizing that Ethan is really that genuine in befriending others. He lets Ethan get him more involved with things and will admit that it's only because of his involvement that he feels any real reason to cooperate, at the beginning. The two of them are super relaxed and comfortable aroung each other. When brute strength and power is required, they make the strongest battle pair that the group has to offer.

  • Irene Teammate

Irene is the easiest member of the group for Jaesun to ignore (or, more precisely, forget that she's even there). He hardly pays her any attention most of the time and lets her go overlooked when she's being quiet and withdrawn. He does eventually begin paying more attention to the other members of the group and takes an interest in Irene because he sees something of himself in her. Jaesun does hold her partner Lupamon in high regard and figures that Irene must have pretty high qualifications to be partners with him.

  • Walter Teammate

Jaesun has little to no patience for Walter's personality and can't really understand him or the unusual topics he seems to be interested in. It's only worsened by the fact that Walter can't seem to pick up on the cues that Jaesun wants nothing to do with him. The two of them make an exceptionally fantastic combo in regards to stealth and are paired up when situations call for it. Jaesun eventually resigns himself to having Walter around like an annoying little sibling or a child to be babysat. Walter's partner Irulamon gets along surprisingly well with Jaesun and will sometimes seek him as a source of a quiet break from her partner.

  • Bernice Teammate

He at first can't tolerate how picky she is, but later comes to realize that Bernice also solves the problems that she keeps pointing out. Jaesun is very aware of her attempts to keep the peace between himself and Emma, and begrudgingly appreciates when she steps in on his behalf. She's the first person after Ethan that he tries to establish a friendship with; he once asks her for help with meal prep and the pair of them make a surprisingly efficient team. Jaesun eventually treats her like a sort-of little sister, though he's still kind of awkward/uncertain about it. They quickly learn how to battle alongside each other and are the second strongest pair in terms of offense, given their Digimon's opposing natures of water and fire.

  • Saria Teammate

While Saria is not as much of an enigma as Walter is, she still seems to rub Jaesun the wrong way. Because she's so hard to offend, Jaesun isn't really able to discourage her from approaching him like the other girls in the group. Saria is relentless enough that he winds up finding it easier to just accept each situation as it comes, even though he sometimes feels like a storm just blew through whenever he gets out of a conversation with her.

  • Notes

∙ Jaesun is usually allowed to do as he pleases, but after his first official trip into the digital world, his parents decide that it's time for him to become more serious about his schooling and future career. Their pushing only makes him fight back that much harder and he winds up making the decision to leave home to pursue what he feels is most important, rather than forcing himself to follow the path they have decided for him.

∙ His favorite brand of clothing is called King Logo, and most of his outfits are faithfully procured from there.

∙ Despite his Korean heritage, Jaesun doesn't speak any of the language. He can read a little bit, but is far from being considered literate in Korean.

∙ Jaesun has a thing for blondes and has harbored crushes on many Hollywood actresses in the past.
