Criminal, confidant, semi-partner, and overall the closest companion I currently have...

I first met Cy while still under the tutelage of my old mentor, a grizzled half retired detective in her own right, in another city far, far away from Neo Oldesville. My mentor had retired partly so she could work on her latest obsession: The Continuum. She was hot on the Continuum's trail and close to revealing them to the world as being more than just a terrifying rumor that other low life’s told each other, almost like a sort of boogey-man for thugs (the whole "squeal on the boss and he'll get the Continuum to take you out" kind of threats), or at least that’s what I believe. (In fact, I’m not quite sure to this day what that old broad found out about Cy and her sisters, but it must have been something serious given that they ended up killing her to keep it quiet).

While I'm not quite sure which member of the murderous sisters did it, the Continuum did manage to kill my mentor as well as spread enough rumors to convince people that she was just some old, crazy loon who just missed being in the spot light from her former years as a hot-shot detective, destroying her reputation in the process. But that wasn’t good enough for the Continuum, so they also dispatched code name “Rho” to finish the job off entirely by burning down all of my mentors’ files and her life’s work, and by taking her hot-headed C.I. out as well, aka me.

Thankfully, “Rho” decided against it, though I’m not 100% sure why to this very day. Themost I do know is that she and my mentor had met face to face in the past and that "Rho" had been my mentor's confidant. Perhaps she felt guilty? Like maybe that meeting is what caused my mentors death in the first place? It’s hard to say. In the end, “Rho” actually helped me prove the lies spread about my mentor weren’t true, restoring my mentors reputation in exchange for her, "Rho's" own freedom from her sisters. A decision that I firmly believe she has never once regretted or looked back upon.

Now she lives freely, not as Rho, but as Cy, and gets to enjoy the beauty of the world and all it offers in her own way - which that is to say, is in style. I don't know where she lives (something I'm positive she done on purpose and will probably never get to see at this rate) but I do know she too moved to the city of Neo Oldesville sometime after our first, and what we both assumed was going to be out last, meeting.

It was strange, to say the least, to run into her again, especially without her signature mask on. Since then, well, I wouldn't necessarily say we've become friends... so much as would say unlikely companions? Quite often I run across her during my cases - maybe because she has an interest in the case too, or, rather, she was already there because the victim and/or perpetrator had something she wished to steal. I really wish she'd give that part up but hey, the people she steals from all have intense insurance and occasionally I've been able to get some of it back, so what does it matter really?

I can certainly say I admire her though. Her strength throughout everything she, hell, we've been through, involving her sisters (especially since the death of Omega) is inspiring and just amazing. It's like nothing can stop her once she puts her mind to a goal, even if seems like it means her losing so much along the way. I don’t know if she cared if she lost her family for good as she claims, as I often see her lost in thought and can only imagine she must still be worrying about the fates of her sisters still trapped inside the cult-like organization. I didn't know this until later, but apparently long after we met and she left the Continuum she continued to try and find a way to get the rest of her family out from under the control of Zeta, the leader of the group. She even succeeded, not just in getting her sister Mu (now called Moriah) out, but even in establishing a new relationship with her that has only blossomed since. They've even managed to rope in Xi since she left the Continuum as well, although she appears less excited about their weekly chats than her sisters do.

Cy may play aloof and claim she "works better alone" or that she prefers to do things on her own, but I know better. If someone is in need, and I mean true need, she will be one of the first people there - even sometimes before me to try and see what she can do to help out. I may never win her over to the private eye life, but that doesn't matter. All that does matter is that she continues to follow her heart and continues to do what she feels is right. I will always be there if she wants my help (and even when she doesn't want it) but I know she's one person who has a strong moral sense, a good heart, and the strength to go on alone and take on the world’s issues if she really wanted to. I am forever thankful I met her, and even more so that she spared my life.

I just wish she'd stop stealing my damn money when I'm not looking.
