Dr. Tulip

I first met Dr. Betty Tulip near the end of the same case in which I first met her darling daughter, Blossom. The good doctor had been taken hostage by Prof. Spectre, the biggest underground crime boss in Neo Oldesville, who had wanted to take from her, her and her lab partner, Dr. Lily's, life’s work: the Neo Oldesville Crystal Gem. This gem was the results of thousands of hours and experimentation and would end up being the saving grace for Neo Oldesville’s growing energy crisis. By putting the gem into a contraption of Dr. Tulip’s inventing, it would create unlimited, pure, clean energy for the city. ...I’m sure there’s more to it than that but I’m not as tech-savvy as she is (and whenever she explains it to me, it just goes right over my head!).

Thankfully, Cy and I were able to not only keep Blossom safe, but also the gem, and most importantly of all, we were able to rescue Tulip from Specter’s clutches. Since then I’ve remained close friends with the duo, usually even babysitting Blossom at least once a week (as long as I’m not on a case) and spending the entire day with her.

I know the death of her late business partner still weighs a little on the Doctor, but you wouldn’t know it by looking at her. Whether she’s standing strong thanks to her own healing, or for the sake of her now daughter Blossom I’m not sure I’ll know, but I can say the bond between the two is incredibly strong. Blossom absolutely loves her new mother and Tulip has gone as far as inputting a “Mamma Bear Mode” into both her own programing and the programming of Blossom’s many robot suits in order to keep the little fishie safe. It’s…rather intimidating to be on the receiving end of Momma Bear Mode, which happened once on accident as she was installing it. (She nearly ripped my head off with her bare hands…)

Tulip has also remained friends with Cy, however I’m less privy to their relationship. It appears to me, from what I have witnessed, that Tulip almost tries to guide Cy (maybe even parent, for a lack of a better word) as she continues to transition into her new life as a civilian. Either way, I do tend to see Cy around more often whenever the Tulips come to visit.

Right now Tulip appears to be working on a new project for the city, but hasn’t shared any information on it just yet. It sounds like it’ll be a few years out, however, so hopefully I won’t have to worry about other Underground baddies going after her. Either way, I’m excited to see it revealed once that day final comes!
