Personality
Lenore can come across as something of an reclusive bookworm. While she doesn't dislike being around her peers, she finds it hard to start conversation due to her general lack of socialization and a tad bit of anxiety on the side. Once someone gets her talking, she shows herself to be suprisingly intuned to other people and, as such, ends up a rather pleasant presence. Having a quiet wisdom to her, she may just end up telling someone exactly what they need to hear.
As sharp as she is, Lenore doesn't have much in the way of self-esteem. Struggling with poor literacy her whole life has have left a deep impression on her, causing her to doubt her intelligence and putting the girl in the position of her own worst critic. Since coming to MA, Lenore has slowly grown to be less harsh on herself, but still recognizes that she has a long way to go to undo years of percieved inadequacy.
Along with her interest in reading, she has an affinity for any and all things rock related, learning anything and everything she can about them. So much so that she's even ended up putting together a sizable collection of the little gravel treasures she finds scattered throughout the school grounds.If you talk to her about rocks, you will have a friend for life.

Story
History
The girl depetrified for the first time to raindrops cascading all around her. Without so much as a memory or name to her...name, she found herself sitting on a platform at the front of a bookstore. The little monster got down from her pedestol and, with no other option, she walked to the entrance and knocked at the door.She was met with the horrified looks of an elderly couple.
The couple were at odds as to what to do with the monster child at their doorstep. The husband wanted to turn the child away, distrustful of monsters and fearing the attention she might draw from the general public. However, his wife couldn't bare to send the child away, no matter how strange she may have been. After a long night of arguments, the girl was permitted to stay on the condition that she remain petrified outside during the day. No one could know that they were harboring such a monster.
While the girl was allowed to stay, she wasn't exactly welcome. No matter how hard she tried to impress him, The husband refused to see her as little more than a glorified statue, refering to her as 'it','gargoyle', or 'statue' on the few occasions that he refered to her at all. His wife was more kind, albeit somewhat distant herself when her husband was around. She encouraged the child in her attempts to learn to read and write, even supporting the girl as she took on the name 'Lenore' in spite of her husbands disapproval.
Tensions only rose as Lenore aged. She was getting bigger, her teeth longer, her scales sharper. Every day the husband saw her as more and more of a threat to him and his wife. Fearing what the husband might do, when the opportunity to go to MA presented itself, Lenore took in a heartbeat.
At the School
In spite of her initial worry upon first entering the school, Lenore's the happiest she's ever been at MA. She didn't have to hide away. No one demeaned her anymore. She'd even managed to get aquainted with some of the monsters there. One monster she'd become rather close to was a bird demon named Nina. And by 'rather close' I mean they're gay and hold hands. She was even getting better at reading! Writing too! Things finally felt like they had turned around for the better.
And then Jie enrolled in MA.
Within a few weeks, her insecurities had flooded back with Jie's dehumanizing remarks and quips. This all culminated into an event when Jie, along with his usual degradadations, started putting Nina's love for her into question. Upon calling her a statue, Lenore finally had enough and beat him up in an undescriblable frenzy.
Since the event, Lenore has done her best to avoid him. She's gained quite a reputation as the one who put the asshole rich kid in his place, one she's not very fond of. Things have calmed down again since then, and Lenore's doing her best to go back to status quo and regain the feelings of security she lost.
What exactly compelled her to escalate the argument so badly in the first place, she couldn't say...
Species Abilities
Almost every monster has their own unique abilites, and each one is unique to each species.
Petrification
Lenore can turn into a statue at will. While more durable in this state, she's not invincible. Any damage a stone statue could take, she can take in this state. She can unpetrify, so long as her head's okay.
As well as a defense mechanism, this process serves as a replacement for sleep, and staying out of this state for too long will bring about similar effects to sleep deprivation.

Lenore suspects there was something more to her behavior when she attacked Jie, but she hasn't been able to put her finger on it...
Learned Magic Books
This is the magic that any student can learn, as they go through the school they can study different magic books that have special abilities on their own
Earth
Allows her to levitate and control rocks, dirt, gravel, all the good stuff. Girl's got to organize her rock hoard somehow! While she wants to better herself at all three of her obtained magic abilities, she's working at this one the most.
Water
Allows her to manipulate water. This comes in handy for getting some tough to reach rock out of riverbanks.
Darkness
Let's her blend into the shadows (literally!). Lenore's having a bad day, this one comes in handy for hiding out of plain sight.

While a bit overwhelmed by her at first, Lenore has found a good friend in Lily. Lenore can't help but admire her high spirits and ability to socialize with others. Dare say, she may even be a little envious. She inspires Lenore to keep trying to break out of her shell.

Lenore used to think knights in shining armor were just a silly trope, until she found one in the flesh. While certainly more anxious than the average knight, Nina's the bravest monster Lenore's ever known. She thinks the world of Nina and wants to stick by her through days both good and bad.
Ayame
[ Friend ]
Despite being a cousin of Jie, Lenore has grown quite close to the girl, being a fellow book and bird enthusiast. While she doesn't hold anything against Aya for hanging out with Jie in the slightest, she worries that he'll end up hurting Aya too in some way.
