Personality
Ayame is an incredibly shy and bashful dork, an introverted nerd who much prefers a good novel over social interaction. She is a timid soul who is wrought with a fear of being judged and letting others down. She's skittish and easily frightened. When—or rather if—she begins to feel comfortable around another person, she opens up, expressing her empathy and tender kindness. For a friend, she is willing to put her worries aside and work to comfort them, even if nine times out of ten she is really the one who needs comforting.
Having never made any bonds outside of familial ones, Aya very rarely engaged in friendly conversation and as a result is very awkward and never sure what to say. She sometimes gets confused when listening to others, and embarrasses herself when speaking, so she more often than not stays quiet. She blames herself for many things, one of many being ruining conversations she's a part of. Due to her family's influence on her, her self worth is painfully nonexistent. She is ashamed of her horns and her mixed heritage, and it is a very touch subject.
Backstory

She hasn't opened up to anyone, but a few details are pretty easy to gleam from her just by talking to her. She comes from a wealthy family of moon rabbits. She has an older brother, an arrogant jerk and a pure moon rabbit. She respects him, but it seems that it's only due to filial piety.
Current Life
Ayame Nakano is enrolled as a sophomore attending Monsuta Academia. She lives in a dorm with her roommate Amihan Lin and has been attending classes for the past few weeks. She has become rather close with her roommate, and has made a few other friends. Unfortunately for her, because she is the same species as Jié, she's constantly being compared to him by students that don't know her.

Moon rabbit folklore
While moon rabbits don't have any natural magic, there goes an old story about them: those who harm a moon rabbit will suffer an early death. People aware of that myth tend to not mess with her. Japanese moon rabbits have a connection to mochi, which, incidentally, is her favorite food.
Jackalope Physiology
While being part moon rabbit doesn't grant Aya many supernatural abilities, being part jackalope isn't not of use to her. For her physique, Aya is surprisingly speedy and can hop rather high. Her horns are very sturdy, but unlike some legends tell, they are not especially sharp—they're perfectly safe to touch—and not large at all, however both are somewhat attributed to the fact that she is a hybrid, not full jackalope. She can sing very well, which may or may not be attributed to her physiology (it's not, but wild jackalopes can in fact mimic voices and sing).
Purchased Magic
Aya has only purchased one magic book but, as she is quite interested in learning more, is bound to acquire more.
Dark - Aya purchased this magic for the main purpose of hiding from others, no joke. She quickly learned how to become less conspicuous by slipping into shadows—a more effective practice than one might think. If one isn't looking directly at her, and if light isn't shining directly onto her, one would not know she's there. She also uses dark magic to keep her eyes from hurting in bright sunlight and uses it to read easier in bright environments. She can create a shell of darkness to seal herself off from the outside world and its light. She can also create energy blasts with dark magic, but this serves little purpose.

Amihan
[ Roommate ] Ayame has found herself growing closer and closer to the introverted and reserved yet adventurous and kindhearted ekek. Although Aya usually becomes tense and timid around others, she opens up around Amihan, thoroughly enjoying her company. Aya recognizes that her and Amihan are rather similar in a multitude of ways, and that sparks in Aya a yearning to be closer to her. They do stuff together often, from completing schoolwork to exploring the campus even to playing video games, something Amihan has been unintentionally convincing Aya to do more. Recently, some tension has risen between them, and Aya prays for nothing more for it to dissipate and for her to be able to help her roommate through her insecurities and worries.

Tobias
[ Friend ] Ayame sees Tobias as a better version of herself: he's far more dauntless, bold, and confident in himself. Aya holds a great deal of respect for the tiefling that—surprising to her—she has become friends with. Their shared interest in reading, learning, analyzing, and studying lead the two of them to bond quickly. She described Toby as "surprisingly friendly to [her]" but is grateful for that; thanks to his influence, she's been learning to try and speak up for herself. At the end of the day, she appreciates Toby's presence and cares about him a lot.

Jié
[ Acquaintance?? ] The relationship between the two moon rabbits is an indescribably peculiar one. Jié seems to have taken a liking to Ayame, as she is of the same celestial lineage. He projects his own conceited mindset onto Aya but not in an aggressive or egotistical manner; it almost seems like Jié is trying to teach her to have pride in her species and use it against others just as he does. Despite warnings and concerns from various students, Aya has made it a personal mission to try and steer Jié in the right direction, changing his mindset and preconceptions of other species.

Lucian
[ Friend ] Despite both being rather awkward nerds, the two became good friends quickly. Aya can't quite describe it but around Lucian, she feels safe and comfortable, and she cherishes that feeling. Somehow, Aya immediately cut through his aloof, "cool" persona and found his book-loving self upon meeting him, and she's glad she did; she appreciates spending time with him and discussing stories and novels.

Lenore
[ Friend ] Because of Ayame's relationship with Jié and Lenore's encounter with him, the two got off to a very rough start. Aya was afraid that Lenore would judge her for her closeness to Jié, as many others had, but she didn't, instead showing her open mind and her concern. After talking for some time, the two became more comfortable around each other, and they somewhat tentatively became friends. They can bond over their fondness for bird girls—er, rocks.
