The NarratorBrQDpqN.png"It's complicated" is terribly oversimplifying it. You could say something that started as a little morbid interest is now a full blown obsession. Moth is fully convinced he will one day get the Narrator to notice him, if for only a moment. They will one day twine together in an unforgettable dance. It is destined (according to Moth, at least).

Moth fell in love with the Narrator the way two ancient warriors fall for each other over decades on the battlefield; slowly accepting that the reason they fought so violently against one another was they saw in each other an equal match. Except he only knew the Narrator for like a day and he is no match for him.

Repeatedly, following the Narrator's initial downfall, Moth has sought out ways to summon the Narrator from the Tatters with varied results.

Th Narrator's return during the Gala and subsequent defeat shattered Moth in irreparable ways. He betrayed his friends for the Narrator and hurt his family in the process. Was it worth it? Of course it was.
LentaUcQbUZr.pngart by MortyIt was infatuation at first site. We all know the tale; man meets tree, man obsessively stalks tree instead of working up the courage to talk to them, man eventually befriends tree's kith, tree's kith support' man's research, and the rest is history.

Has not smooched the tree, wants to smooch the tree, is romantically growing a pet fern with the tree, not unlike one might raise a child together.

Which is definitely a gay move.
Tethys3XOC1h3.pngart by RuevianA fairytale romance like no other. Moth fell in love with Tethys' voice when he heard her through the Everstorm, and serenaded her back most sweetly. They bonded through music and being dramatic bitches.

Moth treasures the fate flower Tethys sent him during this time.

When they eventually met in person, Moth had to admit to himself that the voice he was attracted to wasn't the same as the person behind it. Still, there's something nice about being someone's prince charming he can't deny.
Shady CharacterNQoRqol.pngOfficial title is "Arch Nemesis". Moth hates Shady Character with the sort of ire a belligerent teenager has against their local guidance counselor. No one really knows why he started hating Shady, but Moth exists in a constant state of trying to fight him bare handed, a challenge Shady refuses to commit to because he claims he would destroy Moth easily.

They did one time battle through a board game night. Moth won mancala and Shady won Oligopoly, so ultimately it was a tie. Results inconclusive.

Despite claiming him an enemy, Shady clearly cares about Moth and mostly just worries about him constantly. Apparently watching a defenseless idiot trail after a murderous megalomaniac like a lovesick puppy brings out his mother hen instinct.

Moth tried to break up with Shady once. Shady refused.

He also threw a motorbike at Shady's head...
Dollmakercjb9Bbq.pngThe Dollmaker is Moth's adopted son, probably against Doll's will but he's shown no resistance to his Mothly Father. What he has shown is a deep fear that he will one day watch Moth destroy himself at the hands of the Narrator. He's expressed in the past that he understands Moth will not stop seeking out his dangerous paramour, but warned him that he saw this path being dangerous and melancholy.

Knowing he's hurting his son in some way wracks Moth with guilt but he has come to terms with the fact that he cannot and will not give up on his goal, even if it means hurting those he loves. This has caused and unspoken rift in their relationship.

Despite this, Moth deeply loves his son and his grandson, Eludance. Just as Dollmaker has made a doll for Moth's eventual death, Moth has made a death doll for Doll.  The only person left in Doll's life to make him one.
Othidar5tW3EFT.pngOthidar adopted Moth in what we can only call an accident he will probably regret forever.
Moth actually seems to care about his Othidad despite being probably the worst son he could ask for.
Things got pretty awkward after Moth betrayed everyone at the Gala but Othidar didn't seem to take it personally.
