Jack is a guy with a large stature but a very soft heart. He wants to be more than he is, he wanted to be a hero at one point... but is afraid of taking that next step. As a youngling, he got himself into plenty of trouble and caused his father a lot of stress. It wasn't till he caused a serious incident and got his father hurt did he finally settle down. The once lively child grew quiet and cautious as he stepped up to help his father on their small farm and in a way- try to make up for the incident he caused. The kid that once wanted to be a hero was now well behaved.

He still wants to be an adventure one day but if things get overwhelming he seems to give up and gets anxious. Cam helps him overcome this by giving him a push when needed. She's helped him in gaining confidence in himself. Which she does later succeed in, the two become an adventurous duo but Jack still airs on the side of caution.

Jack isn't the best at expressing himself, his father was a stoic man and thus jack grew up taking after him, bottling things up, and not expressing himself when upset or uncomfortable. He'd rather have a moment to himself later than publicly show his emotions. He does tend to smile easily when feeling calm and safe. He just has a resting grump face,  which can make him seem a little intimidating at times.

Jack lives on the planet Lloria XS09, an alien-human to this world after the crash of the Reverie space station on the planet's surface thousands of years ago. Her ancestors adapted to survive, and she's never known anywhere else; her people's origins on the planet are long forgotten, and it's just assumed they are where they've always been. Earth is no longer in living memory.

His parents are from two different parts of their underwater world. His father living along the seafloor, and his mother is down in the depths. The two met when his father was a traveling merchant, he'd often make trips down to the abyss kingdom to offer goods that can't easily get. Many who live in the abyss can't swim up too high without getting sick from the change of pressure. Which is where merchants like Jacks' father come into play. His parents met on one of his father's trips and their love quickly blossomed. The two married and eventually had Jack, but it wasn't easy. Staying down in the depths was hard on his father and his mother couldn't visit the seafloor. So the two maintain a long-distance relationship with Jack's father often making trips down to visit his beloved wife. Being mixed Jack adapts well to both the abyss and the seafloor lifestyle.

It was decided early on in Jacks's life that he'd live with his father and enjoy the many wonders that come with living on the seafloor, rather than the dark abyss. So Jack joined his father the traveling merchant and got to see the vast extent of their small underwater world. That is till an incident in his early teen years left his father gravely injured and unable to be a merchant. Riddled with guilt over having caused the incident, Jack who was once a wild child, calmed down in order to help his father find a new form of income.

Because of his father's injury, they couldn't visit his mother as often without it risking his father's health. This was just another thing that piled on the guilt for young Jack and made him the cautious man that he is today. He still craved adventure and wants to enjoy the risky things he once did as a child but he's terrified of hurting another loved one and ruining their life. He and his father settled down in a small farming village, the two helping a friend of his fathers with farming kelp and keeping away the local wildlife. When he got old enough Jack took on some trading to make extra income. This also allowed him to make trips down to his mother and help pass letters between his parents and keep their relationship strong.
