EARLY DAYS

Andrew McTeine-Harrow: “Daddy! Hou coud ye move yer ears?!”

After a series of unfortunate events, an abandoned week-old Andrew was found by Edwin and taken to the warlock’s home, where Edwin and Cillian decided to adopt Andrew and raise him along with his brother Calem—who was born the week after Andrew arrived—as if they were twins.

Andrew grew up as a lovely child with an excellent temper and education. As a toddler, Andrew showed genuine curiosity towards magic—often fascinated by the simple utility spells his relatives would cast to ensure the daily tasks at home. His parents soon realised Andrew’s natural interest and affinity towards magic and actively assisted in feeding the toddler’s curiosity with flashy spells and games, which he immensely enjoyed. Same thing with his grandfather Ares, who not only introduced him to magic but also to nature by allowing him to discover the wide variety of peculiar plants the alchemist owns.

When Andrew reached a proper age to start learning to ride, he was gifted his first horse, Malvas: a blue-eyed black colt similar to Edwin’s destrier, Lucien. Andrew instantly connected with his new friend, growing and learning together from each other.

As Cillian stated and, half-against Edwin’s words, Andrew grew along with his brother, unaware he was adopted. He had a happy childhood, thrilled by the warmth his big family professed him, under the protection of two mighty clans.

THE PRESENT

Andrew McTeine-Harrow: “This is actually far from funny, brother! If father or dad finds out…”
Calem McTeine-Harrow: “‘Nough chit-chat, Andy! Nae one will ken, ye’ll see!”
Andrew McTeine-Harrow: “How are ye so sure? Father kens everything happenin’ in the academy. Ye ken that.”
Calem McTeine-Harrow: “Almost everythin’, my dear brother. Besides, we’re goin’ to get some help for that.”
Andrew McTeine-Harrow: “Help? Who—nae, dinnae tell me… Professor Harfang?!”

Andrew adapted smoothly to his first year studying at the Darachsgàil Academy, hoping to become a mage someday. Unlike other students, Andrew didn’t feel the academy was a wholly unfamiliar place to wander. As a toddler, he often accompanied his parents, growing confident about moving within the castle's stone halls.
Now in his fourth year, Andrew earns high qualifications, often helping his brother Calem with certain assignments, as well as keeping an eye on him to keep his brother out of trouble—which often leads Andrew to fall into Calem’s games.

Andrew has proved to be a brilliant student with great discipline. He respects the academy's rules as much as his professors. His favourite activities at the academy are friendly, duelling his classmates, outdoor classes and visiting other academies where his class must exhibit their skills—especially if at least one of his parents is around to watch him perform.

He awaits anxiously every single holiday and certain weekends to return home to visit his family, joining excursions and riding his stallion Malvas through the evergreen fields of Abermory. He yearns to come back home finally when his time at Darachsgàil gets to an end. Still, Andrew is also aware of how fortunate he is to see his parents daily wandering the halls or imparting classes. If lucky enough, his little sister Annaca would accompany his grandfather Ares to some of his masterclasses outdoors.

Andrew keeps sending letters to his family every week, telling them about his favourite and less favourite assignments, adventures with his friends, and especially those with his brother Calem. To his family belonging to the clan McTeine, Andrew yearns in every letter to see the perennial Caerfyrian fields again, hunting mushrooms in the humid forests and the warmth of a fireplace. On the other hand, to his relatives from the clan Harrow, Andrew can’t stop mentioning how much he misses the sea and the sound of the wind pulling the ships' sails while birds soar through the sky.
