Emiko (Terraria AU)

Emiko is an enthusiastic girl full of charm and charisma, and no horrible curse will keep her from spreading optimism and joy! She tends to always look at the positives of life and encourages everyone else to never stop moving forward. Her natural curiosity and love for nature leads her to explore and learn every day! A few years ago, a curse was cast upon her, transforming her into a lycanthrope with very impressive physical abilities, leaving her able to overpower most of her teammates. But when the Blood Moon comes, her curse takes control of her, amplifying her power greatly but making her lose control and indiscriminately attack those around her. Several times she has hurt those she cares about, and the guilt stabs at her every day...

Emiko and Atsuko were two human sisters who lived in a small forest town. Atsuko wanted to be a guard and Emi wanted to follow in her footsteps. There had been rumors of suspicious activity around the cursed Dungeon—perhaps the work of cultists? They decided to investigate and found at the Dungeon an ominous hooded entity, perhaps the one responsible for cursing the Dungeon. Like complete idiots, the two sisters approached aggressively and the figure did not take kindly to that, especially after the sisters refused to back off after a threat. As a result, the figure inflicted a curse on Emi, transforming her into a half-human half-fox lycanthrope. Atsuko rushed herself and Emi's unconscious body the heck away from there and eventually made it back to the town. Non-human citizens weren't an unusual thing; Emi was accepted back into town, until the next Blood Moon rose and made her go berserk. She fully transformed and lost all control, attacking everyone near her. She was subdued before causing any casualties and then kicked out the next day. Of course, Atsuko left with her. So much for their dreams of being town guards.

Living in the wilderness wasn't really a problem for either of them. In fact, perhaps because of Emi's new instincts and abilities, she and Atsuko thrived. Emi loved the wild and grew fondly attached to it. She made a bunch of animal friends too, and she began to develop a semblance of control over her curse, her new powers. Near their new home they found an ancient temple! There seemed to be some magic locked inside, but the presence of Emi's curse broke the seal, releasing an entity, a magical force and former overseer of the world. Unfortunately, the huge flux of energy caused a huge area of the temple to collapse in on itself, trapping Atsuko. Although she was mostly uninjured, the two sisters were separated. At least Emi wasn't alone; the magical entity she unleashed began to guide her, warning her that the underground desert was too dangerous and that Emi should go back when more prepared. Knowing that there was calamity coming for the world, the magical force, now free, split up to call forth unique people to act as the worlds' champions (and also a part of this force went to protect and guide Atsuko because she was very important to Emiko).
